I have the setting on to don't download pictures automatically in HTML
messages and so when a message has a picture in it you have the choice to
bring it down or not. This works fine for external pictures on the web but
when the message is pointed at a internal server you receive and
authenticaion message where you have to supply your networkID and password.
Once you do this the picture comes down. I tested this on 5 machines that had
XP SP1 and everything worked as normal but as soon as you install XP SP2 this
behaviour starts to happen. Any ideas how to stop the authentication box from
coming up?

Both Outlook and Outlook Express read HTML mail in the restricted sites zone,
which is configured to prompt for user name and password. The internal site
your images are coming from is expecting integrated authentication, which
is disallowed in the restricted sites zone. You could change the setting
in Outlook and Outlook Express to read mail in the Internet zone, but I strongly
discourage this.

Thanks for the response. I beleive Outlook and Outlook Express read HTML mail
in the restricted sites zone prior to XP SP2 so what changed in XP SP2? I
agree we don't want to read mail in the Internet zone so what else can we do
to prevent this?
Upon further testing we narrowed it down to that if we get the images from
the Sharepoint 2003 server using the file protocol versus the http protocol
it works fine:
href="file://wsn/C1/News%20and%20Events/default.aspx" - Works fine and
displays image

href="http://wsn/C1/News%20and%20Events/default.aspx" - Prompts for
authentication

Any ideas?
