I definitely recommend turning on the >5MB option. Granted it will cause F@H to use 100MB of memory so bear that in mind.

Looks like we'll be under 400 by the time I wake up tomorrow. Did u see that guy "Stephan" one fold he gets 600 points, joins and is in 45th already!

And TGGA moved up 16 places since he joined.

Damm those guys "Sparky853" and "me". They won't give a guy a rest. I had people over today. I couldn't fold for 1/2 day. Lost production.. bummer.

Glad I got my lead but stumbling is going to be painful.

Having the thread in the graphic forum has really helped. I wonder if we could get threads in a few more forums.
Anyone want to srart a thread in a different forum?
Honestly Flinx, I just want to join you, I dont want to pass you. Now that guy Skaarj looks like he might be a serious threat though. See how fast he's moving? He's only running 3 chips. He knows how to get it done though. More power to him (so long as he doesn't pass "me")
Sparky had me worried for a bit. His production went way down. He seems fine today though.
I thought Jammy would put up more of a fight when I passed him. I was hoping he would at least hit 10K.
If you need some help staying ahead of us, let me know, and I'll put your name on a rig or two for a while.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I have 512 MB RAM, so now if I play memory hungry games like Sims 2, I quit F@H and start it again after exiting from game.

Actually many games will assign 100% CPU time to the game thread whether they need it or not so when your running a game chances are F@H wouldn't get any CPU time anyway.

Of course us serious folders never play games 😉

 I have to moan and groan. It makes for interesting reading. Besides I consider myself bait in this endeavor. I'm out there and I'm wiggling  . I know what you mean when your trying to entice people to do better.

Endyen. I tried in "Other" once. That did not seem to generate much attention. Tell me where you feel a good target is...Hard Disks, memory, motherboards.. Not sure if we're going to cover more people though it is worth a try.

Which forums attract the most hardcore posters? You know, like sys admins with 1000 CPUs at their disposal :) What about MOBOs and Chipsets, they seem to have alot of posts.

My PCs 😎

A good place might also be the Tom's servers. Anybody friendly enough with Freddie to pm him, and see if he can help out a little? Even if they only enabled to 30%, we might be able to pick up a few points. It would also be nice to have moma's endorcment.

POSTED THIS IN THE MOBO FORUM
==============================

Lots of good things are happening with the team.
I really don't know where to begin. I'll start with this:

Congratulations To Us-- We have cracked the 400 barrier.
!!! TEAMWORK !!!.
Project Rank: 400 (we were 414 at Last Report).

We are team 400 of 35,000 and are going a ways yet.
.
The influx of new team members has added great momentum to the team. Before we were looking at
other teams overtaking us. This seems to have changed. At "wusy"'s suggestion we are raising
our sights and aiming for a team that overtook us last month
(and that's why we're recruiting in the MOBO Forum):FRM

We have more folded points this month that we did for the entire month of December.
We've reached a new one day high of 9,859 points.

Members: changed +2, Total: 58 Welcome "Stefan" and "PappySmurfey".
This week has seen a whole pile of new members!!! Welcome gentlemen, welcome all.

!!! YEAH TEAM !!!

Contest:
We have a few Gmail accounts to give away to new joiners if you contribute to the folding effort.
Apparently these are being auctioned on EBAY now, .. what some people will do for a $1.
Anyway, send me or "wusy" a private message after you reach 100 Points
The contest can be deemed a success. I have given away 3 Gmails to date!!!

Off To The RACES

Apparently "blackphoenix" and "PhuckFace" have a challenge going on.
But right now it seems "blackphoenix" owns the other guy.

"error_911" and "Carey" are still slugging it out.
This has been going on for over two weeks now and maybe... just maybe.. "error_911" is pulling ahead.

"Sparky853" and "me are slugging it out. Seems that "skaarj" has turned up the heat too. Hope he can run hot for awhile.

There is another chase team forming "vader1982", "tmg4" and "xponchox". Hunt Them Down!!

Lots of new joiner shaking down and getting the feel of this. Lots of good points. Keep them comming in.
We'll see where this goes once they clear the "folders" not contributing anymore.

Kudos Seems a bunch of people have hit milestones:

me_____________10,000 points .. jammydodger is not far behind.
apesoccer_______1,000 points .. banana time!

LOG - All Their Base Belong To Us !!!

Hats off to the "FedoraFolders" as we jaunt by. We had "Naked-Fun".
"The Data Monkeys" seemed to have missed the branch on the last swing.
They must be "Crazy Germans" if they think they can keep up with us.
!!! GO TEAM GO !!!

We need some of you older folders to get back into it and we need new contributors to help replace them.
New "Folders" needed; come join us we're Team 40051 @ http://folding.stanford.edu

Got the attention of a few people in "OTHERS"

Made the title:

What To Read On The Toilet With Your Handy Laptop

Is it a bad sign that such a juvenille thing got peoples attention? LOL ... LOL

Turned in a 600 point fold myself today. Took a while.

I have now recruited another comp. That will make 3 running for me. Although each is only run a few hours each day.

Might get to turn in another one if the wifes finishes tonight.

I aint signing nothing!!!
Edited by Rick_Criswell on 01/17/05 05:28 PM.

Nice one, that's why your 24hr avg is creeping up :) I think I'm going to have to find some more CPU time from somewhere if I want to keep a 1600+ avg though 😱

My PCs 😎

Getting very lucky on those 600 pointers. The give me good value per hour. Not sure they are ideal but they seem better the the 50-60pointers.

Yippee!!!! Hit 800 Points Average

The team managed it's first 10,000+ point day. That's a good day. We need more days like that. Try to recruit a team member or two. We need a couple to catch up with FRM. Wusy wants to get those guys who passed us last month; GIT'EM!

AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH. I was about 3/4 of the way through folding a nice 600 point WU when I decided I would OC my system a little bit further then normal and try and speed it up a little (I have a XP2500 normally runs at 11*200=2200mhz tried for measily 5mhz increase in fsb). Walked away and came back shortly after and my F@H had started on a completely new work unit. Strange I thought couldnt possibly have done it that fast so I checked the log file and found this.

[00:18:05] Quit 101 - Fatal error: NaN detected: (ener[11])
[00:18:05]
[00:18:05] Simulation instability has been encountered. The run has entered a
[00:18:05] state from which no further progress can be made.
[00:18:05] This may be the correct result of the simulation, however if you
[00:18:05] often see other project units terminating early like this
[00:18:05] too, you may wish to check the stability of your computer (issues
[00:18:05] such as high temperature, overclocking, etc.).
[00:18:05] Going to send back what have done.
[00:18:05] logfile size: 15942
[00:18:05] - Writing 16505 bytes of core data to disk...
[00:18:05] ... Done.
[00:18:05]
[00:18:05] Folding@home Core Shutdown: EARLY_UNIT_END
[00:18:08] CoreStatus = 72 (114)
[00:18:08] Sending work to server

Looks like a just wasted a couple of days on that fold DAMN!

Stupid bug.......you go squish now!

I remember wusy. Now that you've told me the mystery is explained.. I looked and I looked for a work unit that small and couldn't find it

I thought forsure if I said something u'd be embarrased.
