No not until I need it for a game, XP doing fine. I will pick it up OEM for my home built rig when the time comes, 64bit edition and dual boot.

Bought the 49.99 upgrade but will cancel if the OEM prices are decent. NewEgg's will let you cancel right up til they ship the order so it's no skin off my back to wait.

[citation][nom]ForgotMyEmail[/nom]Pay money for an OS ? Nah, i'll stick with debian. s4fun had a very good point, you gotta wait until at least 1 service pack with windows releases. Otherwise you're in for a nightmare.[/citation]
Do any of you actually try the RC before saying you'll wait until SP1? I'm running the RC right now and have been for the past 3 months and it's solid... I've had no driver issues at all. In fact the wife and I bought a new printer on Saturday and all I had to do was plug it in, didn't even have to go to HP's website to download drivers. It's kinda funny really, because it appears as though Windows7 "just works."

All i use the PC for is games at this point, for business i use the MAC with XP in virtual machine simply because the mac has a better backup system and doesn't feel like i'm going to get loaded up with viruses and spyware at every turn.

I would love to get this feeling back with Windows without having to install 2 or 3 different virus scanners, and the spyware scanner. So until Vista stops playing the games, or Windows gets to be a better OS in general, I won't buy anymore Windows.

sadly I can´t, I live in Latin america and Microsoft don´t like to give us good deals and there is no way I´m going to pay an overprice of 100% over full retail price. then they give us a hard time because piracy.

I already have technet. So no pre ordering for me, I get 10 licenses when it hits the market. I am running windows 7 on a desktop from Dec 2004 wich has been upgraded with a 8600gt, and on a laptop from 2005 with its stock 6800M. Both machines are rock solid! I am putting the 3rd machine on windows 7 when RTM hits.

No because the preorder deals were only for upgrades and I like to be able to do clean installs. If it was confirmed you could do a clean install with an upgrade Win 7, I might have. Moreover, the "site license" rumor is kind of interesting for me given the number of PCs I have.

I bought W7 Home Premium. Now if I could afford a new PC to put it on. This economy will keep my on my XP Pro one, but I'll have the license for the future.

Waiting for OEM so I can get Ultimate for a LOT less. Will most likely purchase when I build a new system, hopefully around Christmas next year :)

I will be installing Windows 7 on clients machines when the time comes, but as for myself, i think at least a 12-16 months away for my own machine before Windows 7 becomes a paid for main OS on my Rig. I will wait until mainstream DX11 games and GPU hardware are available and put to good use.

windows Vista works well in its current iteration and I don't see the point after using windows 7 to upgrade , I like to get a little life out of the software Ive paid for that works!

Now if I was still running XP as my main system, I would have straight away!

Yup, I did preorder it from Amazon. Along with a copy of the WoW novel: Arthas, by Christie Golden. It was in stock but thanks to me being cheap, it will only ship along with Win7 in October so I can have free shipping!

No. I got burned pre-ordering Vista and had to go back and buy XP to replace. Lesson learned: with M$, wait until you see if the product is any good. They will through any old thing out the door for a buck nowadays, starting with Win ME, and you can bet that Vista won't be the last ball o'garbage dumped on the consumer.

Nope. Saving my money for a Mac. I know I will have to deal with Windows in the business environment but don't want it for my home pc. I use my home pc for multi-track recording and I'm tired of the bloated MS OS'. XP has worked great for me and I will continue to use it for the next year while I save up money. I wish there were more options but it's either Apple or MS.

Sorry, that's meant to be "they will THROW any old thing out..." BTW, I've since moved on to Fedora 11. If only I could get an iTunes/iPhone work-around for Linux, I'd pretty much drop M$ altogether. Vista left that bad of a bitter taste...

Yes! I bought Pro to upgrade my XP machine (which I will probably upgrade to i7 whenever I get weak enough to ignore my debt) with gift certificates; and I bought two Home Premiums, one for my wife's vista laptop and one to sell.

Yep! Might not use it until SATA 3 motherboards are out or the first service pack is released. Sounded like a good investment that I can sell if reports show it's a Vista clone.

I preordered Home Premium 64-bit Upgrade. I have the RC installed now. On my machine it's a lot snappier than Vista and I love the new interface options.

Of course I preordered this before I found out how much of a pain of an ass it is to install the upgrade version. damn, Microsoft...
