Got the professional version. Vista was working fine for me, but I know I'm going to upgrade to Win7 at some point (sooner than later), and I think this was the cheapest option to get the Professional version.

I sure did!!! RC1 has worked fine for me, even on my dinky netbook. Of course I won't switch over full time until the service packs take effect, but $50 to dual boot it with XP is a great deal.

No I didn't. I'm glad I didn't, I'll just buy the family pack with three licenses for $150... same price per license as the pre order anyway!

[citation][nom]s4fun[/nom]No and HELL NO!! Not until at least SP2 and all the major fixes are out![/citation]

fixes to what? it works perfectly.

Of course I pre-ordered it. I'm not a communist, MS made a product that I can and need to use, and the fact is in order for them to continue this, I need to purchase the software, whether or not I think that my $49 makes a difference. I also vote and pay my taxes.

I've been using 7x64 since the day build 7000 was released and have yet to have a problem, even using XP 32 bit drivers for my wireless card works flawlessly. 300mb usage less than Vista x64 at idle, and that's while running all the beta/RC debugging software. People claim "Microsoft is just cleaning up from the Vista mess." Well, they're doing a great job of it in my opinion. Their marketing has been great, giving users a free OS for a year is genius, even if you don't like Microsoft, you've got to give them that. I suggest you buy it too.

Addendum: I didn't pirate it because I'm not a communist. If you choose not to buy it that's fine I don't care about that, just don't hurt the rest of us by pirating it.

[citation][nom]acecombat[/nom]Waiting for an OEM release...[/citation]

Ditto on that. But even then, I'm not planning on upgrading for another year so I'm in no hurry at all. My Vista Basic works without a hitch.

[citation][nom]kshub[/nom]Have 4 PCs in the home, all are 7 capable. Have been using RC1 on 2 full time. Can't wait for release, so I signed up for Technet today, using discount coupon code. Ended up paying 280$ US for 10 licenses of 7 Ultimate, clean installations to boot, no Vista to 7 upgrades =) I'll also be getting Office 2010 as part of the technet subscription, woot!Coupon code is: TMSAM10 Not sure if it is only US...[/citation]

May want to keep that to yoruself, per the Technet agreement "You may not use it in a live operating environment" which means you don't have the right to use the softare in the manner you are using it.

Ordered 2 copies from newegg..
1 home premium upgrade $50
1 vista home 64(bit) with the free upgrade coupon $109

I needed a new license since I was giving my old vista PC to my grandmother and required a 64bit os for my new i7 rig anyways. The $109 price was an awesome deal. Basically $60 Vista Home 64 + $50 for the upgrade.

Nope. Unfortunately, I need either a full version or OEM version. The Vista I have is OEM and I'm keeping it on my old PC, but I have only Windows 7 RC1 x64 on my new PC so there is no _legal_ upgradable version of Windows I have to spare.

nope. I would rather have a full version than an upgrade.

and as RADIO_ACTIVE said - I will wait for an OEM (if something - a game most likely and/or a video card - makes me decide I want Win7)
