Empire Earth and Civilization 3 for strategy.

oh boy. way too many call a favorite. if i was really pressed to name one though i'd go with Deus Ex. so many amazing experiences from a decade and half of gaming though =/

Tough call for me but XCOM takes it.

It wins the 4-way toss up against SimCity, Monkey Island and Fallout.

Props to ufo defense - XCOM was probably the best game on the PC, though I have some serious soft spots for X-Wing (and expansions), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and DOOM.

Really, though, there are too many to name. XCOM always tops my list when anyone asks, though.

close call: the two games I played most by far are Urban Assault and Diablo 2, I can't pick one over the other ^^

Monkey Island 1 and 2
Prince of Persia
Day of the Tentacle
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Doom 1 and 2
Wolfenstein 3d and Spear of Destiny
Quake 3 Arena (There is now a free multi platform version called Open Arena, with new levels and the exact same gameplay - it uses Quake 3 arena's engine - it's great fun!)

And more recently: Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Dues Ex by far, then the HL series. Everything else comes in far below those, though COD4 was trying to get up there

Most memorable game is Doom hands down though. I can still recall every level in minute detail

Age of Empires and later Battlefield 2142. I also played a lot of Total Annihilation, Diablo 2, and DOOM.
Oh, and Windows Solitaire, of course!!!

Half-life 1 FTW. no questions asked. The game is awesome and the setting is just so epic.

Duke Nukem 3D, Carmageddon 1 - both multi-coop, both oh so dam fun.

Final Fantasy 7 is also great on native hardware (3Dfx Voodoo1, SoundBlaster AWE32) - fav. game.

Diablo II, with the expansion pack. Replay value for YEARS.

My all time favorite pc games have to be the Age of Empires series and The ElderScrolls III: Morrowind.

For old games nothing beats good old SuperMarioWorld for the NES as well as Mike Tyson's Punchout! also for NES. I still think Punchout and SuperPunchout are a lot more fun then the newer boxing games like FightNight.
