I am opening this discussion poll. I am seeking people's opinions on both cards. Depending on how the discussion goes, I will pick a graphics card.

Depends on the resolution you play at

"As for the Radeon HD 6970, it should be selling for $20 more than a GTX 570. Based on its display outputs alone, that makes AMD’s card worth the Andrew Jackson to me, personally. Otherwise, the two cards trade blows, with the GTX 570 faring better at 1680x1050 as AMD’s Radeon HD 6970 retains more of its performance at 2560x1600."

it really depends on how you look at both products.... as for gtx 570... it...

pros
- damn fast.... 480 performance for 470 price...
- runs cooler than previous gen...
- superior performance to ati when aa is on in many games...
- abit cheaper than 6970 for the time being...

cons
- still... power hungry....
- still... expensive for average gamer...
- still... don't know what to say... because it better than 480

as for 6970...

pros
- fast... replacing hd 5870 in dx 11 applications...
- outperform hd 5870 in efficiency...
- cheaper than flagship gtx 580...

cons
- 5870 drops in price... making it a good choice for cf over the 6970 for those who already own hd 5870....
- outperformed by gtx 580...
- not a viable option for those who own hd 5870...

personally.. i'm planning on upgrading to gtx 570... but things runs slowly in my area.. so i have to wait some more time before get my hands on them...

With cards this close, it depends on who you want to support. I've heard many people complain about ATI drivers, while I personally found for me that with my Nvidia set up, it's harder to do the things I want to do than with ATI.

As stated above, performance wise, resolution is the determining factor between the two.

Why can't you just read the benchmarks and decide for yourself?

It all comes down to what games you play. They both run neck and neck. The 570 wins 1/3 of the benchmarks. The 6970 wins 1/3 of the benchmarks. They tie in the other 1/3 of the benchmarks. The 6970 is slightly more power efficient.

Dude that article is older than dirt and hardly accurate.

They say that the 6950 is a dual gpu part.....??? Completely inaccurate.

The 6990 is supposed to be a dual gpu part.

Extra money left over? Where are they selling SSD's for $20??

The GTX 570 and 6970 seems to run neck and neck to me. I'd buy a 6970 for my games.

(OT)Also, how come some people compare the GTX 580 to the 6970? Both of them are in completely different price ranges so what makes you think there competitors???

AMD 6990<->GTX 580
AMD 6970<->GTX 570
AMD 6950<->GTX 560 or maybe 565
AMD 6870<->GTX 470 or 550
AMD 6850<->GTX 460 or 540

Well I have looked through all the posts. Only a few of them Contain factual information. I am going to buy the AMD card. The 6970 is brand spanking new. We are comparing it to the GTX 570 which I believe has been out for a month or so. With driver updates, the 6970 will be able to show us what it can really do.

they compare the gtx 580 with the 6970 because their the 2 best "single" gpu's for nvidia and ati. so technically they should be matched up.

Chart seems a bit off it. The HD5970 still beats the GTX 580 and the HD6990 will be another level up entirely. Beyond that;
HD6970 = GTX 570 = GTX 480
HD6950 = HD5870
HD6870 = GTX 470(= GTX 560?)
HD5850
HD6850 = GTX 460 1gb
HD5830 = GTX 460 768mb

Doing price vs. price makes more sense to me. Maybe Nvidia should start doing more dual-GPU cards since it works out for AMD.

Technically no, not if they are in completely different price brackets. So your saying we should compare the Hyundai Genesis to the Dodge Viper RT because they are both the fastest cars those manufacturers make?? Hardly.

Ok, 1year? Still you get the point right? Nvidia has been unable to produce a dual gpu card since the GTX295.

Do you have a short memory?? The 5970 came out last year, right around this time. and you couldn't even get one till around January unless you were lucky.

Second, how if you're talking about comparing GPUs by price, the 5970 is $700, and has 2 GPUs, you can't crossfire 4 of those. My 3 580s will smack the Crap out of 2 5970s like they are a bunch of little hoes.

I think it is kinda funny how we went from Radeon HD 6970 Vs GTX 570

to

:) That's what happens when people don't think before they talk. I will say however that the 6xxx series scaling is AMAZING. I really wish there was more performance there to start with though. Makes me sad 🙁 I can't stand nvidia.

GTX 570
-Better DirectX 11 tesselation
-Less noise
-PhysX
-Overall better performance
-Better drivers
-Better overclocking scalability with minimal impact on heat and noise
-Overall favored by more games
-Cheaper, better availability

gtx 570 supporting physx.. 6970 supports 6 monitor.... it really depends on what features that you are going to use... as for me... i won't even use 2 monitor at the same time... so i just pick which is running faster in games...

Speaking of short term memory, did you even read the post above yours? LOL I said ONE year. Comparing price? Did you even read my post???? 😴

I said you can't compare a GTX580 and a 6970 because they are in different price brackets......what part of that are you having trouble with??

Speaking of thinking before you talk......how bout reading comprehension skills....lol
