A stock GTX 670 is still about 10-15% faster than the best 7950. That's worth the price premium, as is being able to run Borderlands 2 with GPU-accelerated PhysX.

The reports of being able to run Borderlands 2 off the CPU show that the performance is spotty at best. Not something you want to rely upon in any event.

I know about all the benchmarks already but what are your personal preferances and experiances with the cards and what do you think of physx (not a big problem for me cuz i think most of the effects are that well done and dont need it but i do like borderlands 2 physx but i read cpu can handle that pretty well)

get the hd7950 it beats the gtx670 and is a crazy overclocker you can easily get it over 1ghz the extra gig of vram might come in handy if you choose to do multiple monitirs in the future

If you play a lot of nvidia games like borderlands you might want to get a 670. As for physx, i don't think it can be done by anything else then a Nvidia card (correct me if i'm wrong). That said, the 7950 is a crazy card for the price and will not die as fast as the 670 under AA. But you also have to live with the higher power consumption and the drivers that still need some improvements.

You should definitely go with the 7950, its way better, especially for price/power (bang for buck). If you want to overclock for even more power, you should get ones with a good cooler.
I would go with these:

The HIS ICEQ is a great choice and one of the best coolers out there.

The XFX Card is also nice, and has a great cooling system close to the Twin Frozr II

The Gigabyte Card is also nice and uses 3 fans for cooling.

I would go with the HIS card, and would use MSI Afterburner for the overclocking.
And whats sweeter, is that you get sleeping dogs free with the 7950 from Newegg. Its limited time so buy quickly.

What??? If he wants the 7950 he has to buy the sapphire? I would choose the twin frozer 3 by far but any 7950 will do.
If he wants to play bf3 he can also get a 7950 but the 670 will be better in this specific game but gigabyte didn't make the card this way, Nvidia did.

If you can afford the GTX 670, buy it.The HD 7950 is a good card i agree but it's not as fast as a GTX 670.
Either buy a GTX 670 or buy a overclocked HD 7970 which is even faster.

The 670 averages 25 FPS faster than the 7950 in BF3 and 15 in Skyrim. It's also much faster in COD, although that doesn't make much of a difference. In BL2, you get PhysX, which is a nice addition.

All these people saying that the 7950 is faster. I would rather have a certainly faster 670 that can still be overclocked to 680 performance than a maybe will be faster IF I overclock 7950.

Went with a gtx 670 Msi power edition with twin frozr
Got it for a great price of $350

But I got it a day before I heard about the never settle bundle so I now feel some regret but the improved performance of the 7950 still is about 12% worse than the 670 so I'm sticking with the gtx 670 plus nivida has a longer track record for great drivers so I think ill get A better driver soon

I think you made a good choice i have two of those cards and really enjoy them i hope you will as well :)
