Question RAM is unable to go over 2133 Mhz when in specific slots ?

I am running an Asus b450-F Gaming II with a Ryzen 7 2700.
I have quad-channel Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 8GB 3200 Mhz RAM.

When I put any RAM sticks in slots 1 or 3 on the motherboard, the PC is unable to start with the RAM speed at 3200. Instead, it defaults to 2133 and will not start up with any higher RAM speed. I have tried 2 sticks in slots 2 and 4 and the PC booted fine with 3200 Mhz. I have identified the RAM sticks do not change the output, only where they are positioned. I used to run dual channel but never noticed this issue as I ran my RAM in slots 2 and 4. Now all slots are filled, the PC is unable to boot with a 3200 Mhz speed set.

In the BIOS I have the AMD default XPM profile or whatever it's called enabled, where I can set the RAM speed manually.
If I can edit this post I will link the BIOS version.

But, would anyone know why this problem is occurring and how to fix it? Thanks!

You'll have to overclock ram manually.

Are you trying to mix 2 RAM kits

When running 4 sticks the maximum stable speed is often reduced.

All RAM sticks are identical, the only difference is their age and ofc, position in the motherboard.

All RAM sticks are identical, the only difference is their age and ofc, position in the motherboard.

If they were not from a the same kit they are not guaranteed to work together without issues. It does not matter that they are the same make and model number. This topic comes up a lot and I got caught out by it a few years ago mixing 2 kits of the same make & model. Latencies 16-18-18-36,​

Command Rate 2T.​

Set ram frequency to 2133mhz, test,
increase frequency one step (2400,2600,2800,2933,3000,3200) and rest again.
When test fails, return to previous settings that worked.

I slowly stepped up the RAM frequency but at 2933 MHz games would freeze and at 3000 MHz the PC would very quickly blue screen.

I think I may have a driver issue, but I can't figure out how to install drivers for all my devices. Windows Device Manager detects all my drivers as up to date and working.

It’s not a driver issue. You are mixing kits and when running 4 sticks the maximum speed the setup will run at is usually lower. Most motherboard QVL lists only include lower speeds when running 4 sticks. You have actually been lucky, mixing kits like you have there was a chance they would not run at all so if you are achieving 2800mhz you are doing well.

BIOS of your board has those options. You have to switch to advanced mode. Look for DRAM Timing Control settings.
Command rate is one of DRAM related settings in BIOS. It's called Cmd2T in BIOS of your board.

According to AMD, if your passing 2133 with 4 stick your doing well. If your wanting more speed sell off the 4 sticks and by a 2x16gb kit.
