Question Really High CPU Temps when under any load

Hello all,

Sorry I'm new to this...

I was wondering if anyone can help me? So basically I have an issue with really high CPU temps, e.g. if I load a game or application.

The temps I am seeing are the following - I'm using "core temp" to monitor the temps

Idle in bios - 35/37degrees
Idle in windows - can vary between 35/45 degrees
Using windows - 45/70 degrees
Load a game - 90+ degrees and CPU light comes on

Cooler temp within iCue
H115i - 25/18 degrees
Pump - 3000/3100 RPM
Fan - 1200/1300 RPM

Spec:
CPU - 6700k - about 2/3 years old
Cooler - Corsair H115i

Troubleshooting so far:
Taken the whole PC apart piece by piece and cleaned every component - currently spotless, used an anti-static strap too
Removed OC
Reset BIOS back to stock
Cleaned out radiator of CPU cooler - I can confirm the radiator is working fine as the temps are normal and I can feel the water passing through nicely
Cleaned CPU correctly and re-applied thermal paste (dot method)
Tried my old 212 EVO cooler - same result
Reinstalled Windows just in case there was something dodgy on there
Windows updates & drivers are fully up-to-date

Extra info
What's strange is I am able to play games & use the PC with these high temps without any issues,
The PC hasn't blue screened at all

So I'm wondering, is it that my CPU is on it's way out? Or is my motherboard on it's way out? Or both?

I think it may be an hardware issue but I wondering if anyone else had any suggestions before I take the plunge and buy a new CPU or motherboard or both?

Thanks again guys,
Matt

How old is the H115i? Many times they can lose liquid from permeation through the hoses, it was more rapid in older AIO's with rubber hoses.
Thanks for getting back to me, the cooler is about 1.5/2 years old.

I have spoken to Corsair and they advised to give the cooler a 'big shake' which I did but it didn't seem to do anything.

I was starting to lean off the cooler being a factor as I thought as the CPU's idle temps were pretty stable in the grand scheme of things.

Such a strange issue and the amount of googling I do doesn't seem to help haha.

Yahh...I think 2 years should be good. By then top brands had started using the right kind of low-permeablility material for tubing. Just leaks around joints would be the issue then and that would be really obvious with green-ish crystals forming, or worse.
Just had another look at the cooler, it looks perfect (especially after I've cleaned it) I can't see anything obvious around the joints? Also I did try my old 212 EVO air cooler and I was still getting the same crazy temps.

I've been going in circles haha.

Swapped coolers... Reapplying paste.... Overall cleaning....

I've just on Amazon and bought an AMD setup, I can't be dealing with this stress lol. Especially in lock down, I need to be able to play games :)
