Hi everyone,

Was asked by a guy at work to try and fix his machine. Started life as a Compaq, but took a lightning strike, cooked the board. He bought a new board, put the machine back together (unfortunately, did NOT reinstall software, or format drive, etc. Wants to keep it intact, but load the drivers etc for new board), and can't get it to boot right. Will boot fine in safe mode, but for a standard boot, gets to the XP (home) login screen, and reboots continuously.

Safe mode works just fine, but I'm not sure what to do from there. Trying to talk him into formating, and installing clean, but he's stubborn.

Any help appreciated.

XP needs to go through the configuration process again, the easiest thing to do is a "repair installation" of windows.
