Rebuilt my CPU and having sound problems...

Just upgraded to AMD Athlon XP 2000, Geforce4 ti 4600, Windows XP and using my year and a half old Soundblaster Live Platnium 5.1 w/ digital output.

The drivers I had did not work w/ Windows XP so the guy that did the upgrade for me had an extra SB Live CD with XP drivers on it that he used.

Now the funny part: My front speakers work fine. The rear speakers work when I hit the test button (in speaker config. in AudoHQ) they do not work in games or when I play the sounds in Control pannel. They DO work w/ MultiMedia Player.

I have made sure I'm set to 4speaker config. in Control Pannel>Sounds>Advanced>Speakers and in AudioHQ>Speakers. Also for some reason I'm unable to bring up Multimedia (I think that what it was called) in AudoHQ.

I'm using 4 satilite speakers w/ subwoofer, Boston Accutics (sp?)Brand about a year and half old.

If anyone has any ideas on anything I can try or change I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks a bunch.

Try downloading the latest software updates from Soundblaster.com... that's about the only thing I can think of right off the top of my head...

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.

Yeah, the msft drivers don't use the Aux speakers. At all. No matter if you select 4 speakers, dolby, 5.1, 6.1, whatever.1. Really chaps me too.

You'll have to d/l the creative (shudder) drivers, and flip on the 4 speakers.

Thanks for the help. I'll give it a try when I get my new modem today....hopefully. *Crosses Fingers*
