Hello,

This is a problem I have never encountered before and I don't see any solutions to it online.
I own the reference RX6800XT for a few years now. A year ago the PC started crashing randomly when it had all displays turned off. The problem continued on about until a month ago when it started crashing when browsing the web (happened like 2 times). Yesterday I tried rebooting the PC after a crash and it didn't post at all. Fans spinning, showed the VGA LED. Tried reseating the GPU and resetting the BIOS, everything worked until the next day. With the same symptoms I tried resetting, reflashing and clearing the BIOS, it finally posted. When in BIOS it doesn't recognize the GPU and when trying to boot into Windows, it shows the LED again. I can get into BIOS only after a BIOS reset. Tried putting the GPU in a different system, also didn't post. Tried taking the GPU apart to see any physical damage, none spotted.

What are common failures on the GPU when something like this happens? Please help

Full system specs, including PSU make and model (or part number) is? Also, how old the PSU is, and was the PSU bought new or used/refurbished?

What are common failures on the GPU when something like this happens?
Physical (visible) damage occurs with impact damage (e.g GPU was dropped or it was rattling around inside the PC when PC was transported) or when something burns up (e.g due to component failure or way too high GPU temps).

But GPUs can also have damage that you can not see. E.g like shorted out fuses/resistors (need multimeter for that + know-how what to look for) or GPU die itself being dead.

To get GPU working, you could send it in for repairs.
For repair shops, Northridge Fix is one of the better ones,
link: https://northridgefix.com

While Northridge Fix is USA based, they accept international shipping and can do repairs worldwide. (If you're located outside of USA.)

Alex, founder and owner of Northridge Fix, often posts electronics repair videos to his Youtube channel, that i find interesting and informative to watch.
Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@NorthridgeFix/videos

E.g GPU repair where GPU isn't detected in BIOS, tested in 2nd PC and not booting + no physical damage on PCB;
(essentially the same symptoms as your GPU currently is)

They also sell all and every kind of equipment to do with electronics fixes. Soldering stations, microscopes, flux, capacitors, mosfets, connectors etc.
