Your guess is wrong again, came here after 10 years and we talk more. Compare the rating on console games with pc ones, people with brain now that, my advice take a free time and go play soccer.

Only a console owner would say PC gaming is dead. I seem to remember that a recent report of games sales across platform showed PC games didn't fall but the rate of increase was less than the previous year. So there was still growth but not as much growth as before. Console owners on forums went mental and started saying PC gaming was dead. What they didn't say in the report was that the sales were retail only and discounted all sales done via Steam, online gaming subscriptions such as WoW, Eve and other MMORPG's and even more ridiculous all sales from Amazon or other internet sites.

So apparently PC gaming is dead because sales are still up and a few million sales weren't even counted.

More people are regular login users on WoW and Steam than total sales of Xbox 360 worldwide. So when you add all the games that aren't Steam or WoW, how many times over do you think PC is bigger than console gaming?

As far as cost goes why don't I refer you to an article showing how a fairly old PC can match a console in gaming power for less.

"people with brain" know how to spell and use indefinite articles.

Don't forget that consoles use the same basic componants as PCs. A CPU, a graphics chip, a hard drive. Consoles wouldn't be what they were if the PC industry wasn't driving the innovation behind their componants. Also companies like Microsoft are heading for a convergance of technologies so PC and Xbox gaming may well become one and the same thing over time, driving a wedge between the two when they are coming together is going to make a lot of people look really stupid.

I don't get the whol FPS without mouse concept. This is a show stopper, consoles just cannot do it.

Also try to play nearly any RTS, say, Starcraft anyone? How could one play it on console?

Fair play, I have heard some console gamers, including friends of mine, who prefer using a controller instead of a mouse & keyboard. If their hand to eye co-ordination is better suited to that then thats fine.

Just that if you prefer a keyboard & mouse the console doesn't support it, whereas a PC can use a controller. PC gives you choice, console does not.

Sure one can prefer a controller (I know I do for some platform games) but mouse and keyboard ARE generally faster. That's the reason UT3 is 30%slower on consoles for example.

I agree, I prefer a keyboard & mouse myself. But I do try to act as devils advocate and not scream blue-hellfire like some of the brainless fanboy fuckwits that frequent the forums.

And as if to prove my point .. here comes one now ...

my advice...get back into the freezer...I think they pulled you too early..

Im not from US, sorry for my english. Hey for the dudes above, Re5 goes in 3d...so go buy a LCd 120hz (not cheap, but thats life) and googles 3d from MS.I eager to see Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, but i want to play it me, not my son. And after you spent 5000$ on a rig, come all and dream at Gow 3 or Ff 13 versus on ps3.I have both pc, xbox and ps3.

I´m a fan boy, I love pc and I couldn´t care less about what platform you prefer, you like it you keep it, leave all the rest alone

I remember back in the day, playing maniac mansion on a Tandy. That was wicked awesome. Hell, i still play that game from time to time. 😛 and now i seem to have lost focus on the actual game experience and concentrated more on all the minute details of said experience. I don't think that gaming as it is today has the same appeal as it did before. it's just not something new and exciting anymore.

$5000 on a rig? Now way near that much. I have a Core i7 920 with 8Gb of DDR3 ram and a ATI HD4670. I am running games better than a PS3 and an Xbox 360 and my whole setup cost me around $1200 a year ago. I paid a premium as the bits were just released but if bought them today it would be around a $1000. Yes it is more than the cost of an Xbox, but I could still buy a machine the same speed as an Xbox for around half what I paid.

The only person who spends $5000 on a computer is a Mac user.

And they don't play games.

Whether you liek consoles or pc's for gaming is a matter of preference.. I however prefer pc's my quality image (IMO) and the controls on a controller for an FPS game.... forget it. gimme a KB and mouse anyday.. i was showing a friend something in halo once... and I was barely able to move around decently.. forget about aiming..lol so to me, Pc gaming is superior.. I feel as though the pc has much better and more accurate control. i think if you had a console against a pc, the pc would wipe the floor with it...( remember this is just my opinion and as such everyone is entitled to their own and yes i would be happy to admit I am a pc fanboy..lol ) let's not all get too serious about something that everyone has their own opinion on..cuz in the end, how many people really care what the other has to say..lol /rant

[citation][nom]Mr_Man[/nom]It's good to see them marketing something for gamers that isn't just about frame rates and bling. Load times and boot times are important to make PC's rival consoles.[/citation]
Dude. Get the latest firmware update.

I think the whole Microsoft thing with cross-platform gaming should come to a head so we can finally prove which is better. When a PC user can get in a multiplayer match against a console user, eventually some bright spark will keep track of kills, matches won, etc etc etc but also platform used. Response time is king and 100th of a second to aim at the head and press fire.... is a controller really going to beat a good laser mouse? Dont bother posting because the answers are opinion only and have no basis in fact. You will have to wait and see.

Also loading times will be faster than consoles when the subject of the story, and SSD drive, has the game loaded on it.

Obviously english is not his first language. Combat him on the merit of his argument, not the quality of his speech.

I don't think PC gaming is dead, though I just upgraded my PC so I am biased. But it is clear that console gaming is dominating the market and growing. So there are valid arguments on both sides. Certainly "you a retard, duuuuhhh" is not a valid argument though some people seem to think it is on this thread.

Sure, the mouse is way more accurate than a thumbstick for aiming. But the left thumbstick on a controller is way more comfortable and easy to use than the keyboard for movement. Plus, having buttons at your finger tips instead of scattered over the keyboard is way more efficient. But it's clearly a personal preference. Crysis, for example, I found to be much easier to play after plugging in my 360 controller.

As for RTSs, absolutely the PC wins. You just can't get the depth an RTS deserves on a console. Just look at Halo Wars. It plays well, but is an extremely dumbed down RTS with many handicaps. It doesn't compare at all to something like Company of Heroes or Dawn of War or 10-year-old Starcraft even.

So, obviously there is something to be said for both platforms. There are advantages and disadvantages all around. But certainly if someone was coming into gaming and asking whether to buy a PC or a 360 or PS3, I'd tell them to go with the console. It's simply a better value and you don't have to worry about compatibility issues and drivers. But there'll always be a place in my heart for PC gaming.

[citation][nom]stradric[/nom]Obviously english is not his first language. Combat him on the merit of his argument, not the quality of his speech.[/citation] Maybe it's childish of me, but when someone starts talking to me about 'if you had a brain' (or something along those lines) and while doing that make mistakes that just makes him look stupid, I like to point that out 😛

On the PCvsConsole discussion, I think pretty much everything is said: PC is superior in both pricing and GFX, but consoles create less of a barrier since you use them while sitting on the coach, rather then having to sit at a desk, and you don't have to bother about installing apps/drivers, upgrading hardware or updating apps/games/OS.

I always love this type of comment. Hey, if you're going to call the guy an idiot and add nothing else to the conversation, at least have the courtesy to spell the contraction "you're" correctly.

It also says something about the Tom's community that this type of comment is voted up.

Interresting... but the point is... I prefer paying for many small SD than just one big SSD.

If you want real performance you already know, you need to put few (3-4) SSD in RAID 0. It's really uninterresting 1 big SSD at heavy price giving 200MB/s than few small at low price giving 200MB/s each.

You reach over 800MB/s with 4x OCZ Vertex....
Real gamers don't want "ultra-cool" Samsung 256 GB SSD...

[citation][nom]AdamB5000[/nom]A SSD for gamers is a SSD priced at[/citation]

Hmm. I'm sure I typed out that entire sentence last night. Was it edited? Something wrong with suggesting a price/Gb?
