Question Should I buy a rx Vega 56 at microcenter, use it for a month, and then return it?

I need a GPU ASAP, so what I'm planning to do is buy the Vega 56 and then return it before navi gets launch. I saw that microcenter lets you return a GPU within 30 days if it is like-new conditions, and I get all my money back, is that true? I really need a graphic card right now, but I don't want to wait a month without having one. Thanks

Are you sure they will refund the FULL amount back to you, even after 30 days ? I don't know much about micro center, but most places have a 30-day replace/refund policy. But if the return policy says so, then you can do it, IMO ? No ? But, what exactly do they mean by saying, ""like-new" condition ?

What IF, suppose you buy the card now, use it for 30 days, but something happens to the GPU during the usage period ? Isn't there some risk factor involved as well ? Not sure though.

Maybe, try buying some second hand used GPU instead, assuming you can grab one at some reasonable price ?? Anyways, here's what their page says:

Notebook/laptop computers, digital cameras/camcorders, projectors and commercial products may be returned or exchanged within 7 days of purchase, provided the merchandise is in "like-new" condition - the complete product in the original carton with all equipment, packaging, warranties, manuals and accessories. A 15% Open Box Fee will be charged on all returns and exchanges unless the product is defective and is exchanged for the identical product.

Desktop computers, monitors and printers may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase, provided the merchandise is in "like-new" condition - the complete product in the original carton with all equipment, packaging, warranties, manuals and accessories. A 15% Open Box Fee will be charged on all returns and exchanges unless the product is defective and is exchanged for the identical product.

Opened software and DVDs may be exchanged only for the identical product. Any exchange of opened software and DVDs must occur within 30 days of purchase.

All other products not listed above may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase, provided the merchandise is in "like-new" condition - the complete product in the original carton with all equipment, packaging, warranties, manuals and accessories.

Yes, I contacted them and they told me that I will get all my money back without any fee, I even asked them if I can play video games and still return it and they say yes, they told me to only have the original packaging and that the gpu is in like-new conditions

I wouldn't bother with this idea as there is no clear definition of "like new". They could easily say that the slightest bit of discoloration on the PCB from heat takes it from the "like new" category, all the way down to "used" and you can kiss you cash goodbye.

Even if you did do this, what are you going to do for the remaining two to three-plus months until Navi is released? No. You'd be better off getting a used card on the cheap and use it until Navi's release. Then when you have your new card, recoup as much as you can by reselling the used card.
