Should I get a computer with dedicated GPU?

Hello,
Does the i7 or i5 processor handle most graphics? My daugher is a Communications major and needs a new computer. Should I absolutely get a dedicated GPU or is the i7/i5 good enough with graphics and say medium difficult graphics programs?

For just office apps and general computing,I would say the on chip video is fine.

Well, does she do gaming or photo/video editing or 3D design? If not, she won't need a dedicated GPU. Just make sure that you're getting a motherboard that supports integrated i5/i7 graphics (with Intel Z68 or H67 chipset, NOT P67). Also, are you talking about a desktop or a laptop?
