[SOLVED] Should I upgrade my GTX 1070 8GB to RTX 2060 Super?

This is my rig, it's two-three years old but chugging along just fine:
CPU: Intel i7-7700
Mainboard: Gigabyte Gaming B8 - LGA 1151
RAM: 2x8GB G-Skill Ripjaws V
Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 1070 8G G1 Gaming
Power: Seasonic S12II 620W

Is it worth it to upgrade from my current graphics card to the ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2060 Super 8GB? I aim to run Cyberpunk 2077 at max setting on 1080p.The new card is of reasonable price ($520), about the same size of the 1070, runs very cool and quietly, and I saw some reviews on YouTube which are mostly positive.

If it's viable to upgrade, what other parts of the system should I worry about to accommodate it? Also, compared to the slightly cheaper MSI RTX 2060 8GB Super Gaming X, which one should I get? I'm just a regular user and not very tech-savvy so simple explanation is very much appreciated.

Nope.

The only worthy upgrade to a 1070 is a 3060 at least. The 2060 Super sits slightly above the 1080 and below the 1080 Ti. Not worth $520 (US, I assume?) but either way, US or not, 2060S isn't a worthy upgrade. 2070 S might be, it's equal to the 1080 Ti. But 3060/3070 are way better

While the 2060 Super is going to give you a boost (maybe 20% more power than your 1070) that sounds like way too much money to spend on an upgrade like that. And then if you add in "max settings" which by that I assume you mean ray tracing as well, a 2060 super probably isn't going to have the performance you are hoping for. You're probably best off waiting for the RTX 3060 Ti to be released and become available. That GPU should be cheaper as well as having better rasterization and ray-tracing performance.

2070 Super for sure. That's a solid GPU and should run Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with high settings quite well.

The 2080 Super was never a very good value even before shortages drove all the prices up, doubly so now.

Yeah, he gets that, but it doesn't sound like he wants to wait that long (it could still be months, Cyberpunk 2077 will be out in 2 weeks).

Or it could just be 1 day. You never know when more stock will be available and you never know if he will be lucky when he goes to a store and find one.
I live in a country where all 3000 series are minimum 800-900€ yet i went to a shop some weeks ago and found 2 3070s for 650 each. I didn't have the money to buy one but I did mentioned it to some friends that were looking for them and one of them got one.

EVGA GPUs are very popular in the US for their excellent warranty. In Europe is like most others. As for if it's worth, I would say yes, if you can find one, grab it!

I'm waiting for the 3060 Ti as an upgrade to my 1080 FE. It still fits within the same power envelope as the 1080 with the same power connector. Is your 1070 matched to your existing power supply, or do you have extra headroom for a more powerful card? That should always be a consideration because having to upgrade your power supply at the same time as the video card can make it not worth doing if you are on a limited budget.

RTX 20 cards are a bad deal right now because in a few months there will be enough RTX 30 cards on the market for everybody. I'd hang on to the 1070 a while longer.
