@ shadow187, and the “just don’t click people”: I would guess a large number like myself view the articles via the RSS feed, and rarely commit.
All the stories come in much like email in outlook, and generally you have to read about halfway thought it just to even tell if its something new or more spam.
Tom's Hardware has pretty much become iFanboi & nFanboi, so much so I rarely even bother to check it but once a week now.
New iPhone, iPad, OS, Bug, sure that’s a worthy story, maybe more so for Tom's Guide than Tom's Hardware but news none the less.
700 Articles on Apple that say the EXACT same thing just simply reworded differently or 500 Articles of Box art for box for a nVidia product not so much.
Had I not just cleaned out my Feedreader I would of posted a screenshot nearly every other article was more or less rabid fanboi spewing's for one of the two brands.
I have a iPhone, I'm a nVida guy, but there is a line between news and information and what looks more like paid advertising from the two companies.
If you realize the problem is bad enough to create filter, you already know you have a problem.
My question is why not simply at deal with it at the editorial level where it should be dealt with and ask before posting a article A.) is this newsworthy? or does it look more like it is paid advertising propaganda? B.) Have we already said this? and C.) Have we already said this more than 1000 times in the past 24hrs…etc
The reason I have Tom's Hardware is in the feedreader and not Tom’s Guide is not is that I want information for PC components, testing, and comparison. Additional information is nice, but not the reason I read it.
