So Tom's is soliciting comments for a contest? No need for me to enter; I Surfed over to Tom's Hardware today using my powerful 2400 baud Motorola Modem and Netscape Navigator with WebCrawler as my search engine. Found this contest for a so-called "Gaming Rig". Let me tell you about MY system, A REAL State-of-The Art "Gaming Rig!"

Asus P2B-F MB
Pentium II 266 MHz
32mb 168 pin RAM (screams!)
1.2Gb Western Digital HDD (I may never fill it up!)
Nvidia Riva TNT2 Video card (150 Mhz of Gaming Goodness)
Creative Sound Blaster Live! sound card
HP CDRW 4x
2400 baud Motorola Modem (Tom's page loaded in a blazing 1.7 minutes,YES!)
.28 DPI 15" monitor (640x480 natch!)

You can keep your "Gaming Rig."
Unreal is REALLY Unreal on this baby! Have you even SEEN the incredible graphics of Half-Life? Not 'till you've seen it on THIS system. C'mon Guys! Get Real! "Core i7 Gaming Rig!" I gotta laugh out loud!

As I sit here typing this I ask myself, "Self, why in the world are you doing this, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment. You never win these types of things, whats the point?" So I answer myself and say "Because self, what kind of life would I be living if I didn't take as many one-in-a-million shots at winning a computer as I could humanly put in for." Since I found this site, I can proudly, yet sadly say I visit here at 4+ times a day. This contest is just one more thing to love about Tom's top notch articles, reviews, charts, as well as the knowledgeable and friendly community.

Oh my how this site has changed since the mid 90's when i first stumbled onto this site looking to overclock my pentium 75. Back then beige was the color, dual core meant a two socket motherboard, multipliers were locked, jumpers ruled over voltage and bus speeds, and getting an extra 25mhz was almost mystifying.

Now we have this give away pc with its black color, tons of fans, liquid cooling, quad core cpu, terabyte hard drive, six gigs of ram.

Just amazing looking back 14 years at the evolution of the pc and how toms hardware guide has been there to cover it.

Cool PC! Is the winner picked at random or do you like to have an essay?

Well, yes but 2 PCIe 16x lanes and correspondingly no NF200 chip. Not that that's a huge degradation but it is a little impact in higher-end GPUs as you lose some bandwidth running that third card in an 8x lane.

Don't get me wrong. Do I want it? Yes I do. Just sayin'.

What this system needs is that thing between my keyboard and chair, me!
I would name that beast "Hurricane Earl" and start folding at home with it. First game, AVP and then a dose of Batman with full Physx capability. My kids would go nuts over this too, so pick us please.
Good luck to everybody.

Nice rig, would like one like that to play games on my 24" screen on high details. my radeon hd4670 can;t go 60fps on 1080p resolutin on new games 🙁.
too bad i don't live in the us to be eligible as a contestant. DAMN IT!!!

the prize's case is l33t though 😀

As I usually say Tom's Hardware always have the lead in reviewing or supplying news about modern technology, but this time its a breakthrough with such amazing idea ; and we all know how honest Tom's Hardware is so we all participate with passion
Besides i used to be fan of amazing AZZA Hurricane Chassis and wanted to build a new PC with this exact specifications
so i hope i win.

I come here every morning when I get too work. I guess it was about time to finally start commenting. The chance at a computer is a great way to get new users. I hope I can get this computer I have bought from Cyberpower before and they had great prices and service. Thanks for the chance Toms.

[citation][nom]xnashx[/nom]I think for the tie breaker. We should guess what page and time this will end at when the contest ends. My guess this will go all the way to page 91 at 10:00 Pacific time.[/citation]
[citation][nom]firedust[/nom]I don't envy the person that actually has to read all these comments. I imagine even the thought of it is enough to lower your IQ.[/citation]
At first I thought they'd let it go for about three days and then decide on the fourth day, but five whole days? That's going to be a ton of work for the editors! Maybe if they let the link to this get pushed off the front News page, they could save themselves some work 😉

However, if you were running two powerful cards, you could have one lower end card dedicated for PhysX and it wouldn't be limited, correct? I always figured the main draw of having the third card was PhysX, not so much for rendering.

P.S. I want it too.

I love to win this system to replace my LGA 775 system! Love the blue theme & w0w it is water cooled and bundled with a Windows 7 OS a perfect system a really awesome giveaway from Cyberpower and Tom's Hardware! The chasis is a AZZA Hurricane 2000 Gaming Chassis so does it means the 800watts PSU is an AZZA brand too? I don't know anything about the AZZA brand but looking at the chasis it quite a quality product, the design is awesome!

What a coincidence because I too wanted to build one with the exact specifications. Maybe we are long lost twins.

Actually, I called dibs on building this exact machine like a year ago. I know, I know, it's crazy. Maybe the three of us should go party in a computer lab.

That computer will look good under my table
And I'll play games like Starcraft and Fable
The speed it gives me such a edge
That I'll have time to trim my Hedge
While the Radiator keeps it cool I wont burn up my cable
