Sound Card isn't detected sometimes

i have recently started to have a problem where my sound card isnt detected
when i turn the computer on. sometimes it will detect it but other times it
wont and says there is no audio device!! it is still installed, even when not
detected and system sounds are sometimes heard but its very strange and i
cant find any solution yet. anybody got an idea? thanx.

Remove and reseat the sound card. Check alignment of the slot in the metal
bracket attached to the soundcard circuit board and the mounting screw hole
in the computer case. In my case the slot/screw hole was misaligned and
caused problems. Usually problems occurred immediately after plugging in a
cord into the soundcard.
