are there any great alternatives to SpinRite? I dotn want to spend the money to recover data that wastn my fault i lost...(by losing i mean bad file sector errors in chksdk)
 
You could say it was your fault by not having a back-up.

Seriously though, when it comes to hard drives, it's not a matter of if it will fail but when it will fail. Some hard drives will last years without a problem; while others will fail within days, weeks or months. If you have important data that you need safeguarded, then regular backups are a necessity. Don't put total trust in your hard drive not failing.

HAH! i have the entire drive backed up on another drive, i was just trying to get the last droplets o use from this drive, but i got spinrite anyway and yes, it fixed it almost completly
