[SOLVED] Storage does not look normal

So I bought a new power supply and hooked up everything incorrectly as I was using the original cables on the old power supply. This caused many problems. After I rectified this, I was able boot my system to find that I did not have any of my storage devices other than my M.2 drives shown on the windows explorer/disk management.
Some background on my drive config - I have 5 drives total - 3 of the 5 drives are SATA SSDs and the other 2 are M.2 SSDs. The 2nd M.2 is the newest addition that was installed during my power supply rework as mentioned above. 2 of the 3 SATA SSDs are in RAID 0 and I do not remember which port went to which on the motherboard prior to me changing my power supply.

My motherboard is an z370 Aorus Ultra Gaming WIFI -
SSDs:

970 Pro - 512
970 Evo Plus - 1TB (The new one)
2 x 860 Evo - 500 each (both in raid)
1 x 860 Evo - 500 - does not even show up on my system - nor in bios

So far I have swapped out the cables for all the SATA SSDs, I removed the M.2 that was just installed, I tried several combinations of the 2 drives that do show up on windows explorer/bios but to no avail. Each time including a healthy power cycle.

Any ideas? I'm not sure if I fried the last SSD but I think there's always the possibilities. I have also read that installing 2 M.2 SSDs will disable 2 of my SATA ports on the mobo - is this accurate to my case?


PS. I named the original drive Rootkit, it's not a virus... i promise.

no. only if the m.2 is sata type. your is pcie type

but it doesn't hurt to try the missing drive to another sata port

That can easily be the cause of the missing drives.
You fried them.


Power off.
Disconnect ALL drives except for Disk 2, the C
Boot up
Does it boot correctly?

If so, connect each of the other drives, one by one.
See if they are recognized.

I think I am able to recover my 2 raid drives - looking into some recovery software, I was able to find about 700GB in the lost partition. These two can be recognized but they are not seen by windows as 1 combined partition, but instead 2 separate drives.

The next step I want to take is to recover the data, put it on the new M.2 ssd and then recreate the array on the 2 drives that lost their raid (in windows not bios).

Can you show us the Partitions windows in DMDE?

The damaged drives probably have shorted 5V TVS diodes or open e-fuses. In most cases there is an easy, no cost, DIY fix.
