Suggest Power Supply for two GTX 560 ti's in SLI

Hello,

I wannna get a PSU to support my new build, with a gtx 560 ti, which I will SLI with another 560 ti in future.

As I can see from the geForce website, a single card needs minimum 500W power supply with two 6 pin connecters. I was looking at corsair PSUs but they only have 4 pin connectors. I dont get it, how cud they not have power supplies with 6 pin connectors? Although it lists two PCI-E connectors. Is that the 6 pin connector??


Anyway
If not corsair, what brand and wattage should I go for getting a GTX 560 ti SLI? I think it has to have at least 50 amps on the +12V rail. So what do you all suggest??

Hello gam0reily;

All the Corsairs have 6+2pin PCI-e connectors. You might have looked at one of the other PSU power leads.

To get the 4x PCI-e power leads you want you could go with:
CORSAIR Pro Series HX650 650W 52Amps +12V and 4x 6+2pin PCI-e power leads.
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W 62Amps +12V and 4x 6+2pin PCI-e power leads.

A second card requires you to add another ~175 Watts. You need a 700+ Watt power supply unit if you use it in a high-end system (800+ to a KiloWatt is recommended if you plan on any overclocking).

Actually it is the same as the Corsair TX750 V2, XFX Pro 750W Core Edition (minus the modular interface on those two) and Seasonic M12II Bronze 750W.

The 750w Corsair should be fine. You'll have plenty on the rails as well as some decent overhead ( not necessarily overkill that I am known for on the forums I moderate ). : D

Also if you want cable managment. Get a Modular 750 watt.

How is a corsair GS 800 (non modular) in comparison with the TX750.
I am getting it for less.

It's basically got every thing the TX750 V2 has and a bit higher +12V rating 65Amps vs 62Amps for TX750.

That's a good deal if you're getting it for less than the cost of the TX750 V2.
We're seeing the GS 800 going for $25 more than TX 750 right now.

All you really need is 750 watts. 800 or 850 is where Your high end Graphics cards start getting SLI'd. Corsair makes a Fully modular AX or HX power supply family that has the watts you need!

The cables that are not to be used by a modular PSU do no need to be in the case, while cables in a non modular PSU remains around blocking the air flow -- so a modular PSU uses less cables for the same amount of hardware.

If you're not using a cable - you tuck it away out of the air flow.

I know that's 'old school' cable management - but it has the same benefit.

Yea if you absolutely have to get a modular PSU and can afford it, Get it. But if you can't old school cables management is the way to go!
