I am trying to find some information about storying the syskey on a USB
thumb drive instead of a floppy. Has anyone tried this or have a link that
might help?

Chad,
Did you ever get an answer to this? We are looking at doing the same thing,
but I have been unable to find any documentation on it.
Thanks,
Russ

Russ,

I did not find any info about this. I was going to do some tests of my own
but have not yet found the time. If I figure anything out I will update this
thread. I did find and article about vulnerabilities with the SYSKEY that a
knowledgable person can get around the security features. Still it never
hurts to have more security.

Thanks,
Chad

how about using vfd to emulate a floppy with a file stored on usb? anyone
tried that (and maybe furthermore start the usb and vfd drivers earlier so
they are started when the system prompts for the floppy)? just a
question...just a question, don't try this on a production machine!... 😀
