I still haven't ordered a waterblock for my CPU. I can't decide between to Koolance CPU-380i or a EK Supremacy either clean plexi nickel, or just clean nickel. All the same price, can't make a decision...

This is probably how my rig will sit until I get the expendable income for CPU block, top rad, new pump, reservoir accessories, and a more appropriate colored coolant.

I've always wanted to try custom liquid cooling but I fear I'd spill the coolant when changing it. I'm thinking of getting an NZXT Kraken X60 when I get my tax refund.

Just put some towels down for insurance but spilling would be tough to do if you own a funnel, extra length of tube, and an extra fitting. Plus no components get damaged unless they are on. PCBs get washed in the factory, as long as they are dry before powered on, no harm is done.

I'm biased towards having products that function as well as look good in the process, have you set aside a budget? Perhaps another block? :)

G - its not much of a hassle. If you take the weekend to clean an aquarium or maintain your car or even clean out a rig of dust - then watercooling (as a hobby) ain't different at all. If you are interested in going through custom watercooling - I'll hook you up nicely 😀

jeremyp79 - Awesome! Love it when people put up custom rigs on here! Nice sleeving, Clean window, Overall amazing Build I have the same motherboard, RAM AND CPU cooler as you 😉 (That is if that is the GD65 and Gskill Xseries 8GB ram)

Quit smoking

i got the same ram and cooler I guess cause I have the GD65. Yes, Mr Phillips, You do need to quit :) The creator of marlboro died from a smoking related disease...the creator.. A few weeks ago......Irony. Stop before its too late

Stick - considering you'd be wanting to go full on watercooling, I'm going to suggest going with EK. Primarily because If I were you, I might see myself picking up a VRM/mosfet cooling block that would look like a set piece.

You can pick a block between these two:
http://www.ekwb.com/shop/blocks/cpu-blocks/supremacy/ek-supremacy.html
http://www.ekwb.com/shop/blocks/cpu-blocks/supremacy/ek-supremacy-nickel.html

and the mosfet:

alternatively:

^ but FCPU don't have the older CSQ designed (ring) in their inventory. Only the Clean CSQ versions.

Mind you the copper/nickel plate inside the block will become hidden if you use dye or pastel mix.

If you don't care about the way it'll look, hit this store up they have the lowest prices compared to other watercooling stores but for some reason they don't stock up on EK - never.

From ^ I'd ask you to look into the Swiftech white, Raystorm acrylic hold down.

On a side note; take a look at this review

That's the thing that bums me out though is I'm not crazy about the circles on the EK CSQ, and my GPU block is EK clean plexi and nickel with no circles. Backplate is just solid black brushed metal. The only VRM block available sadly is the acetal with circles. So I might just skip the VRM block this time around again. Maybe I will jump up to Z87 or X79 later or just wait for a new line of CPUs to come out before I upgrade.

Then it's settled, go for the Nickel Plexi, Clean CSQ block since you have an EK GPU block to go with.

Hold it out, Z97 should be a big step up with Broadwell making a rumored healthy debut. I couldn't wait and right about now, an 1150 build is far more powerful than a Q9550 I have back in my other home office.

In terms of an investment, you already have a GPU block and if you gun the EK block, you have enough hardware to merely migrate to another platform without worry of higher costs. Just purchase new mobo, cpu, ram combo and you're good to go with watercooling. Personally I don't do VRM/mosfet/chipset/ram cooling since it adds restriction the loop and thus degrades your pump life unless ofc the overclock is broken with their temps. I had to cool the X48 NB chip since the critical factor in overclocking the X48's meant if you want lower vcores, you'd need to up the NB voltage(thus the temps would go up) and the memory controller would be fine while running into 2000MHz frequencies however regular air cooling didn't cut it for me.

Good ideas. I might not even need to cool the CPU. With this Prolimatech Panther I can fold 4.7GHz and stay under 60C. I think my mount was a little off on the last loop because thats about what my temps were on water. The temps are much more even across the 4 cores this mount though so I'm really thinking poor block mount or the CooLabs Ultra on the CPU die needed to be spread better. (which it must have when I was moving the CPU and the IHS slide a little.

But anyway, I had the day off so I wired and sleeved some LEDs and extensions.

I didn't have any crimpers so I just used needlenose pliers and a touch of solder for good measure

testing before sleeving!

Forgot to take a post sleeved pic but here it is mounted in the chassis..

My name is Mathieu, I live in Ontario, Canada. Im 19 years old, I work for an Computer Store where we do repairs and build custom PC's, I work in the Sales and Custom PC building department, I've build anywhere from basic home pc's to Ten Thousand Dollar 4K editing machine's I love my job at the moment but im also in the process of joining the military. Thats my story in a short paragraph :)

Sleeving skills in quotes like youre being sarcastic about it, my sleeving skills are fabulous 😉

Thats alright man I have no issues explaining, I grew up in a military family, my dad was a captain in the Dutch Army up until we moved to Canada, I love PC's its a passion and a huge hobby but its not something I want to do for the rest of my life. I enjoy being out doors and I love working out, I also want to be out there doing something and helping people instead of doing an every day job. Im not saying theres anything wrong with that because those people are needed too for society to function but its not for me. I also crave adventure.
