Ok so I was getting 600FPS in Minecraft and I heard coil whine...I forgot vsync on for a sec, Dropped it and it went. So Im gonna run it over night, its safe right? :S And when do I know the coil whine has stopped? It comes about once a day...but how am i sure?

That will work fine. It will stress the card REALLY hard. You might just use a normal benchmark that still runs at 100%.

Yes you can turn the monitor off, just make sure the computer isn't set to auto sleep after a certain amount of time.

You will know when it stops....when it stops. You will do this and then if there is no whine in the next 2-3 days, you can decide it worked. If it comes back, try something else.

Doesn't matter at all with v-sync. Coil whine shouldn't have much to do with v-sync. You should be playing your games at 60fps (with vsync) to avoid screen tearing.

Also, MAKE SURE you have the fan profile set to auto. The card will be in 100% stress for a long time so it will get HOT. If you have it set to like 30% locked like you had before it will overheat.

yeah i know i put it on AUTO. And yes, Vsync does have an affect cause when i turned it off, 5 seconds later, Whine, Off, gone. Ok....well...Good night. And Lutifj, InshAllah I THINK we are gonna buy me a chair in a few days :)
Its on auto on MSI after burner.....i hope it doesnt leave auto some how.

The whine may not always be at the same load. it tends to be at a certain power load(as it is the power system doing it).

My GTX 670 whines when folding(but with the case closed it is not noticeable).

Vsync off can still work a card harder, If I have Bioshock Infinite on the menu with vsync on the card gets to 70% or so usage vs 99% with it off, but again as other say, just find whatever makes it whine and leave it on overnight(auto fan speed).

I do not use furmarks for video stress anymore since it down clocks without even hitting the power limit. OCCT:GPU and playing with different resolutions may get you just the kind of load you want to whine over night.

Good morning...I checked in the morning. GPU was like 68c, But I didnt hear whine? I really think the best thing to do is go to the ""end"" In minecraft and put FPS on unlimited cause i get like 600fps and it starts to whine there....but is it 100 load?

And azz, How do i check if it is 100%? Although Im sure it is.

I would NOT recommend running Furmark for any extended time. It's a professional way to killing a card. I cannot believe that was recommended... there's a reason why both AMD and nVidia put the brakes on at the driver level. It's hard on the circuitry, esp VRM's.

Azz - Sorry man I cant buy headphones right now....After I get the chair, First thing Im going after is a new mouse and keyboard....Plus, I dont feel comfy with the coil whine. Its just me.

To check if you are at 100% load, open MSI afterburner and look at the GPU load. It will give you an exact percentage. When I did this, I used Unigine Heaven. I used free walk mode and just walked around until I found somewhere the card was at 100% and whining. I think it was over by the airship. I let it sit for about 5-6 hours like that while I was as class and when I got home it was good and hot, but not whining anymore.

Do i use free or walk mode and do I just stand there without running the bencmark? It was at 99% usuage just standing by the ship....I think i heard whine, Ill walk around and test but Do i Run it or no?

I normally run the evga oc scanner tool and run it but im not sure how that would work with a amd card. I run it for several hours at a time under max settings for stability tests. Its basically furmark as it has the furry donut and all that stuff. Never heard of anyone hurting a card that way as long as temps stay under control. See if evga oc scanner works on an amd card or just run valley or heaven maxxed for several hours? I like oc scanner but thats just me.
