Yeah funny enough that's the one i spotted on pc part picker, but after looking on amazon it isn't available to dispatch to 1-2 months :/. Although I can get it from a different seller on amazon for £88 or £80 including delivery from dabs.

Is it a quiet PSU ?

This is a legit retailer who I have bought from before. They are a trusted company.
Scan.co.uk also have it but for a higher price.

im getting the impression that Seasonic are the best design money can buy? is there nothing better? is this just all about price?

Not necessarily. Delta OEM and Superflower OEM PSUs are just as good.

Really good fanless models, like the one Damric suggested, which are desirable for silent rigs, tend to be pricey. It's expensive to manufacture a quality unit with much capacity that doesn't need to be actively cooled.

Those 55.00 M12II units have been out of stock at Amazon for several weeks now. PCPartpicker needs to get their website up to date as they currently have MANY part numbers still listed with specific vendor prices or models that are not available and have not been since a week or two prior to Christmas.

Yes, they are silent, but if the PSU is going to be tucked away in the bottom back corner of a case, the noise probably won't be noticed.

I know yous have suggested different PSU's but I'd like to keep it simple and order both the GPU and the PSU from amazon. Do you think the Corsair Rm 650w would be able to handle the R9 290 Sapphire Tri-x ?.

Here are my System specs : http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DzMND3

As of now I have the 650w supernova g1 and a r9 280.

Pc partpicker say the Est wattage is 482w, but on Saphhires website they state a 750w is needed for the graphics card.

Sorry for posting this here but yous seem to reply quickly and I need to order the parts soon as I am sending the other ones back tomorrow, thanks in advance.

Edit: Is the EVGA SuperNOVA 750W quieter than the 650w supernova g1 ? As it is only an extra £5.

Edit: Think ill go with the Evga Supernova 750w g2, its in the tier 1 section and the reviews say it's quiet.

You are fine with a 290 or 290X and a high quality 650w power supply. That 750w 'recommendation' assumes you have a low quality unit not capable of supplying its rated wattage.

Even this list overstates a bit but it's closer to accurate.

It is quiet and really good. Arguably one of the best on the market. And at that price, it is a steal.

Seasonic is high quality across the board. SuperFlower is competitive in the high end and maybe even a little ahead of Seasonic there but they still make a large number of low end units that don't come close to approaching Seasonic in overall quality. Another company called Flextronics makes the very high end Corsair AXi series and they are the equal of Seasonic and SuperFlower and then I wouldn't kick a Delta out of bed so the best overall manufacturers are Seasonic, SuperFlower, Flextronics and Delta. You could really argue Flextronics as the 'best' manufacturer as they don't even bother with low end units at all.

Alright cool 😀, Ended up spending like an extra £30 on a PSU but hopefully it will be worth it. And ordering a r9 290 tri-x at £215, was going to get a gtx 960 for around £180 so for the extra £35 I can get a way better card which is also suppose to be quiet. 😀

Thanks for the help.

No problem. Don't forget to register the EVGA PSU within 30days of purchase. Register the PSU and then they will extend the warranty to 10 years.

Your PSU is important, it is the heart of the pc and should not be scrimped on at all. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks one more question lol. What is the EVGA support like ? Do they make you pay for the delivery like corsair do ? And how easy is it to contact them in the UK.
