This contest got me to finally start folding, which I have been putting off for ages. GPU upgrade is coming black Friday, but running on CPU for now.

The pent 4? yes. the laptop, from folding? yes but from use no. lol

But does a 980ti sound like a good upgrade? lol :D

Even if the CPU doesn't rack up huge points, at least the work units will count for the 10 required to get the quick return bonus. :)

You should see 550,000ppd plus or minus, depending on clock speed and the tasks you get assigned from the server.

Make sure you feed it with a healthy CPU core. One core/thread is required per GPU, and gets used 100%. On the faster cards such as the 980Ti and above, a powerful core and at least 8x@2.0 can make a very substantial difference, 60,000 points per day or more.

I'll be giggling at you guys from the other side of the race, while you quickly fall behind, but I have long had loyalties with both sites, so good luck!

And definitely make sure to often repeat the part about getting a passkey, starting a few days early, and get those first ten tasks in ASAP so the server better knows how to grade your system and give the quick return bonuses. And again, one full core per GPU is vital, but the client SHOULD automatically configure that for you.

Not sure if you've fixed this now, but folding doesn't work on the newest GPU drives, it only receives bad WUs, and in your log, yo'll see something like this:
15:20:52:WU00:FS01:0x21:ERROR:exception: Error downloading array interactionCount: clEnqueueReadBuffer (-5)
If you get the older, version 373.06 driver like I did, it will start working again (version 373.06 Nvidia drivers, if you're using AMD I'm unsure which version it is.

 And i made sure to give it an extra boost in the flame department by overclocking it to 1470 mhz (although once temps reach about 70c, the clocks slightly drop to 1457mhz). Been running it for the last week with no stability issues.

if i fold 24x7 (which will happen next week) i could see 600k+ ppd (current WU im on says i would be doing 700k ppd).

Now, the bigger question.... should i hijack my sister GTX 1070 into service...

Well of course you should.
What kind of silly question is that????

Last time I tried I had another Mod getting upset that I was taking the thread OT!

I see some of the folding signatures showing 400,000 points a day, and I have two PC going one 24/7 one almost all day and I don't even have 400,000 points total yet... Does a GTX 950 and GT 9500 just not compare?

Good idea and thank you for your service old chum. :jap:

You should get an estimate of ppd from your client.

I can't imagine the 9500 will do a lot unfortunately.

The 950 should get you around 100k if running 24/7, guess?>?

Some of the Team are hitting 2-3 million ppd but with serious hardware.

GTX970's do around 250k, 980's 350k, 980ti 550k, 1080 700k, all estimates depending on wu.

In the control center, it says 124,894 PPD, which is half of my current 264,907 which I accumulated over the month.
I'll keep track of what I get tomorrow and have my own benchmark, the client is a bet too much of an optimistic guesser it seems.
