Great, but still... only two on the forums know CoH!!. It seems most people here like FPS games.

Best. Console. Ever.

I'm currently building my PS1 collection back up, when ever I have the spare money and find them in mint condition, that is.

True bud, but theres me and Herr_Koos who like RTS, not sure about the others though.

I lost my collection when I moved I only have 3 games left D: so I just emulate all my old games on PC 😀 It's not piracy if you owned the game before. The only game I still play is Army Men Air Attack because it's fun to fly around in a plastic helicopter and drop cherry bombs and shoot plastic army men!

That's debatable.

I have used emulators in the past, as well. But I am not really sure how that is viewed upon here - so...Perhaps this should be the last we speak of it, just to be safe. I have seen permanent bans from admitted piracy.

The PS1 owns, very true.

Tomb Raider, FFVII, Metal Gear Solid/VR Missions, Tenchu (OMG), and Resident Evil 2 are among my all time favorite games on ANY platform.

Using emulators isn't piracy......all those games and consoles are out of production and buying used / old consoles and games at a flea market isn't going to make the manufacturers / developers ANY money.

Descent
Civilization II
X-Wing
Hellcats Over the Pacific (am I showing my age?)
Command & Conquer
Half-Life
Starcraft
Deus Ex
Doom
Duke Nukem

There's ten of mine in no particular order.

To me playing games I bought on PS1 then moving them to emulator because I lost them is not piracy. But PcGamer81 is right and I am fairly new to toms hardware so I think ill just shush up about it. I'm surprised my PS1 has lasted this long though. Is it just me or do new consoles seem cheaper? I mean they are still fairly young but it seems like they don't age as well as older consoles do. Anyway I recently got steam and have been playing TF2 like a crazy person 😀

The more complex these consoles get, the more likely they are to break down

Even if consoles get more complex they have more advanced tools to make them. My PS1 wasn't even brand new when I got it. My uncle gave it to me when I was 6. I played that thing like crazy and It still works. Although the open button jams sometimes and you have to jiggle it.

Haha yeah and the PS3/Xbox 360 graphics and features are pretty amazing. Although nothing compared to a PC. I don't think I will ever become a full on console gamer I love the mods and stuff for PC too much.

The MODs really add a lot on PC and the level of customization you can do with certain games. You can edit the games sounds, scripts, textures,etc..

Im not really an expert MODer but I used to record my own voice and change the radio sounds for Counter Strike and change Tommy Vercettis skin. Those are fun, those cant be done in consoles. :sol:

I know that is logical and true - but from a legal standpoint it is illegal to be in possession of a platform bios that you don't currently own. Speaking of emulation in general is ambigous and can be interpreted as piracy by some, seeing as how many classics are sold through virtual platforms and the PS2 (which has a popular emulator) is still going strong - even out selling the big 3 in some countries.

I think it is stupid for someone to make a big deal about us talking about emulators - but I know how legalistic and butthurt some moderators can be. Just looking out for the new guy.

Yeah, man...

I just didn't want you to get in trouble :ange: - you've been the star of this thread.

I don't think the moderators visit here much 😛! My minecraft Jar file is massive compared to a vanilla one. I can't add a single mod more without hitting some form of comparability error and I love it. I'm surprised Homeworld didn't make the list. It was a pretty interesting/Fun game.

I have yet to try Minecraft. I have played Terraria and like it okay.

It is on sale in Steam right now for $4.99 (50% off of $10).

I dare you to go for it.

I make a guarantee right here and right now that you will absolutely go nuts over it.

It has a massive online community. It has regular events that take place in real time for the world's inhabitants (you), and it is just an all around awesome experience.

It has been likened to a 2D Minecraft - and oh boy is it fun. The Steam group I am currently in has 14,177 members - 1412 in game right now.

The game is Cave Story meets Minecraft...only better.

Give it a shot.

Okay, whilst all of these games I can agree are amazing, great lists guys. They all have one thing in common: Most of these games are Quite old, (not that it makes a difference) this should make for a harder list to think of seeing the recent dip in quality.

What are the top ten best games you have ever played, which these games must have been released after January 1st 2008.

My list would be like this:

1. Starcraft 2
2. TES V: Skyrim
3 Portal 2
4. Battlefield Bad Company 2
5. Fallout 3
6. Borderlands
7. GTA IV
8. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
9. Crysis 2
10. Amnesia the Dark Descent

That's because certain games aren't nearly as *ground-breaking* as the originals in the series:
- Starcraft 2 did not have the same amount of sheer innovation that the first one did (where the C&C games had mostly the same units, but SC had completely unique, asymmetric races)
- Where would Fallout 3 be without the first fallout? It's only standing on the shoulders of its predecessors--ditto with the GTA games
- Crysis 2 was "blah" for most people--Crysis was the original that broke every rig's back. Crysis 2 had its DX11 pack released separately.

Well it is obvious that without the original there would be squeal. I simply wanted to make a list which is harder to think of due to a recent dip in quality over the last few years. Which games do you think have been *ground breaking* then? I will rephrase what I said. "Top ten best pc games post January 1st 2008"
I have played the original SC, Crysis and all the gta games. Maybe I should of left out squeals in this list, but in my honest opinion they count as games and if they deserve it they should be allowed on the list.
