high stranger...
welcome 2 the folding club! 229pts. is not bad for your 1st workunit! however your true 24h avg. will only show after you've sent in some more of those!
keep folding!
@jaimegmr: good luck for setting up your farm! hope the CF2IDE converter works out (I didnt even know such a thing exists...)

this graph always shows the 4 people above and the 4 below in your ranking and the angle shows your respective 24h-production average.

Can someone remind me why I fold for this team? I haven't read the articles in forever, and the responses in the forums are rude(and getting worse). Don't get me wrong my posts arent any better but I use this forum for my stupid questions and or rhetoric answers. My only answer is I like to fold and the team doesnt matter.

Team latvia took us over not too long ago, and it looks like we have them in our sites now...
While it would take 130 some odd days to take them over, we can almost count on the fact that since they started they haven't increased there output at all. They no long have ppl joining their team i take it.

provided we keep gaining users like we have, we'll take them over in no time.

Hopefully it can turn into a little bit of a compatition between us.

Ok, why has our daily production bottomed out like it has? Link

well, because although we had only about 75 active users last week we also had a PPD of close to 300 and the 80+ users of this week only put up a PPD of a little over 200. ie we have more folding members but we all produce a little less poinz...
🙁

Here's another weird one. I'm about to get bumped by EntityAnomly down to #29 but I pulled up his numbers and he's doing 18-21 CPU's vs my 3 yet he's only doing 3x the points. It's as if he's running a farm of Pentium 300's.

Crazy difference.

It's not just us though. Everyone seems to be getting low point WUs.
I'm fast approaching my 500th series 700 WU. I hate those suckers- so few points. Oh well, if it helps.

I'll be in that top 20 soon enough!

I've always got 3 CPU's folding at work on our servers.. unfortunately 1 is a P4 at 2.8ghz and the other 2 is a Dual XEON server

re your diff to EntityAnomly: that might be the difference of the "big packet" option.
re me's series 700's: that's the spirit! it's for humankind AND it's public domain!
re mpasternak: congrats! you're allready in the top 20 _active_ folders!

and on a sidenote: fishmahn's filled the 200K milestone-gap! congrats go to him too, of course!

By the way thanks for the shout cdpage. I hang out at THG all the time and found this thread a few months ago. Gave me something to do with all my computers :)

LOL well not exactly. I do have a bunch of P2s and P3's at work that aren't being used anymore, so I set them up with FAH.

What are the stats on your rigs?

2x2.8 Xeons
1x3.0 P4
3x2.8 P4
1x2.4 P4
1x1.7 P4
1x1.2 Pent-M
1xAthlon 1800+
1xAthlon 1Ghz
Bunch of P3s 450-1Ghz range
Few P2s 333-400Mhz range

Not sure why I don't get much for points sometimes, but I'm thinking it might be because a bunch of these older computers are running 98 with the FAH for 9x client. Maybe I should look at setting up Linux on them instead?

Sorry to spam all these responses today, I stopped getting email notifys for this thread for some reason and I had to catch up.

@stefan: what is this "big packet" option you speak of?

Ok, well that makes more sense. In reality those P2's and P3's probably aren't doing much compared the rest but you're probably getting a bump every once in a while from them.

I've got a AMD 64bit 3200+ running 24/7, a AMD XP 2100+ palamino running maybe 6 hours a day, and a P4 ~2.7Ghz running most week days. I think that's it. I had another PC running for a while at my old work but I think they shut it down after I left.

In your settings, if you're using the graphical client, under the connection tab there's a setting for using packets larger than 5MB. Check that on machines with a respectable amount of memory.

I'm not sure how different the clients are for xp and 98 and I never did figure out the command line one. I couldn't figure out how to change it to use larger packets so I just used the graphical one.

BTW, go into your profile on TG's and enter your location if you want to. Once you have 100 posts here you can upload a small avatar too.

Yea that what I figured. It's better than just sitting there doing nothing.

I do have that setting picked on most of the faster clients. Respectable amounts of memory like 512 or more?

In the folding control panel, there is an option to allow WUs with assignments and returns greater than 5MB. If you enable this option, you can get WUs that will give you more points, because they use more resources. While we dont see too many of them right now, you can as much as double production, if those are all you get.

We have gained several new users; most of them are near the to of this lis The user list here says five new active users in the past two days.
sjonnie's production has dropped significantly 🙁

I'm still working on getting a decent server together for my farm. I finally got a newegg order in that includes some thermal paste and a couple HDs.

Quick question. I know that Stanford uses a benchmark score to determine WU's. Does anyone know how to reset it, or where it's stored?

The benchmark is done each time the FAH client is started. If you start it with the option "-verbosity 9" (either through command-line or short-cut) you get the result of your benchmark in your logfile. It's this benchmark our ranking © by Spitfire_x86 and © by Sparky853 uses. The second link also explains the method to get the benchmark-score in detail.

edit: re EntityAnomly: big packet option was already explained in detail, I guess... -- I wouldn't have told you, of course as you are already a threat to me, projected date of takeover in Feb 2012. It's never to early to start to worry, isn't it? :)

Thanks for the links. I'll have a ton of scores from P3's and celerons in the 500-1.2 range. I sort of doubt if they'll make it on the board; it looks like the site hasn't been updated in a while. I'll mail them when I get them all together anyways.

You better believe it 😀 Someone has to threaten at least I'm trying.
