I have been gaming for the past 8yrs. I might not be able to consider myself as a hardcore gamer first 4yrs I started out with city of villians city of heroes. then this last 4yrs iv been slowly building my collection but I do game a lot since I am at home all the time, so I have been playing guild wars 2 and elder scrolls online, alot and absolutely love them.

I Like them because they have vast open worlds with almost unlimited amount of player new and old and the content is frequently updated also I like the wvw in gw2 is competitive but not full on pvp.
I also like simcity and battlefield 4 but might not be able to consider them open world

The X3 series. Specifically X3: Terran Conflict. I've always loved being able to go anywhere and do anything I want right at the start of the game. I always found it exciting to get your startup cash and buy guns for your Discoverer and heading to pirate sectors to show them who is the superior dogfighter. Always took some of their ships early game and laughed the entire time.

Since we are required to list more than one game and since sandbox (Terraria, Minecraft, Edge of Space) doesn't count, I always enjoyed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Unfortunately it is much like Skyrim with the extended pointless tutorial though. I always tended to start stealing right away before being forced into joining the Mages Guild. But It just holds that magic of one of the first open world games that I built a PC specifically to play it.

I prefer fallout, but enjoy GTA a lot and skyrim every now and then. Far cry is killer of course, shadow of morder. My only reason for playing those over just cause or any other open world game is simply because I don't know about them yet! Just found out about just cause 3, if I don't win this I will go out and buy it, but this would be very nice to win! Thank you for the opportunity!!

It's gotta be Sleeping dogs for me. There's so much detail in the city and I prefer the hands on fighting instead of gun-play. Shame about the lack of aircraft though.

Mine has to go to the witcher 3! It's amazing and even though the first 2 were better experiences the 3 one really captivates and immerses the player, into the tumulteous world of the Witcher!

I love the books and the games! It was an easy choice for me!

my favorite open world game is GTA V and the witcher 3.

when GTA V bring realism and suprisingly funny, the witcher 3 makes me wanna stay in that world..living world in these 2 games have gone beyond my expectation..

so i wanna feel this game, should been bring more world to explore..

choose me Toms!! 😀😀

I've got a few favorites. The Elder Scroll series is amazing for pure immersion, being able to play whatever role you want to and get lost doing all sort of side quests, exploring the wilds, etc... I also like how characters you meet react differently depending on your race.

If it's just to blow shit up, Just Cause 2 was an absolute blast for that. Move around using a parachute, shoot everything on the ground, blow up everything in sight and run away while shooting down patrol cars sent after you. Just pure exhilarating fun.

I also like other sandbox games, such as the GTA series or Infamous.

There have been a lot that I have enjoyed. Just Cause 2 was amazing. Skyrim of course. Saints Row IV was so over the top it was a blast. Watching 7 Days to Die develop has been really cool. RiFT is another that I liked a lot.

Definitely Witcher 3 and Skyrim. Witcher 3 has a lot of content that gamers sometimes get swayed away from the main story because even side-quest are more interesting and also to mention its huge amount of hidden treasures and events across the world in Witcher 3. Same as Witcher 3, Skyrim also has a lot of content to discover, and who doesn't like killing dragons? And above all, both these games has enormous support in the modding community, it definitely boost your playtime.

Carmageddon is my favorite classic open world racer. I liked it because you could literally just do whatever the heck you felt like, and back in the day when the original was made there were almost no other open world games like that.

As far as current games... I think I would have to go with the Fallout series, specifically 3 and 4. I know they have their flaws but I just enjoy exploring and coming across random things... and generally making my own story as I go.

Now where would we be if we didn't mention at least 1 MMORPG... as they are open world as well. The original big hit MMORPG, Everquest, definitely is among the top of my list for best open world experiences simply because the danger was real! I remember spending hours trying to retrieve my corpse only to die again and resort to asking my guildmates for help lol. This game of course let me to Vanilla WoW which I enjoyed playing through WotLK. I plan to jump back into WoW with Legion, as the thought of playing a Demon Hunter is exciting. Back to exploration though! When I first played WoW, before achievements, I spent weeks exploring the world at level 40 something on my first character. I mean I literally didn't level for almost a month while still playing at least 4-6 hours a day.

Yeah... I enjoy exploring... A LOT lol.

An honorable mention which I had a lot of fun with, and I will likely play again when I get my Pascal GPU next year, is Dying Light. Truly this game was highly enjoyable for the same reasons that I enjoy Fallout.

ARMA 3 and Dayz because they have great graphics, are very close to realities in real life and have a complex weapon system :)

Fallout 4 hands down; it might have bad inventory interface, but it makes up to it in all the rest.
Happy vault dwelling!

Lots of options but I've got to go for Fallout (although I might be influenced by the fact that I'm playing 4 right now).
The very definition of open play as it is totally up to you how you play the game.

I'm a fan of the Assassin's Creed series. It's got style, flair and the free running fluidity feels unfettering by offering verticality to the open world exploration, world which looks as realistic as they get. By contrast with its attempt for realism, the simulation within the game brings a certain Matrix-ish feel to it.

But my favorite games which happen to feature open-world exploration are The Wicher series. The world simply looks stunning, the music and storytelling are excellent. The little things like romances, side-quests and mini-games add up to make some of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

There are other series worth mentioning, like GTA, Just Cause (the second one was fun as hell btw), Arkham, Alien: Isolation, Zelda, Metroid. Never been a fan of Bethesda games like TES and Fallout 3-4 even though I've played most of them.

I personally believe that GTA is the best open world game that i had ever played becasuse you have a lots of secundary missions.

Best regards

The newest, i'd say Fallout4 and Witcher III. When I play fallout I feel like I'm Denzel Washington in The Book of Eli. The *holocaustic* environement was well crafted. Wild Hunt is probabaly the best rpg I've played, along with Skyrim. There are so many outstanding games. But for discovering and exploring, World of Warcraft was the best ever when it came out. After watching the cinematic after the first time. I was hooked. Then, the many hours spent exploring, fishing, gathering mats, etc....That was my first ever addiction in life! GAMING!

Exploring the world of WoW was fun. A lot of nice little easter eggs and surprises hidden around everywhere.
Allthough at release with only ground mount or even without mounts it was a bit arduous, but what a feeling the first time you got your new shiny flying mount! :)
