Passmark forces idle CPUs to their max multiplier, part of program design. I have EIST (speedstep) enabled too. Idles at 800Mhz, as soon as I open Passmark it shoots to 4.8Ghz.

It's also HIGHLY recommended that you disable speedstep for 5Ghz+ OC's.

Equinehero: What kind of ddr3 memory speeds have you gotten with what dram voltage on P55 motherboards? I think my i7-875k memory controller will start to go unstable after 2000-2100mhz and i had to lower my ram multiplier and drop it to 1750mhz. Atleast i can lower timings a bit but that doesnt seem to matter much in benchmarks.

Even though P55 doesn't support XMP, the RAM is still rated for certain speeds.

If you have any 2133 MHz DDR3 you can try changing the reference clock. Set DRAM voltage from 1.65 to 1.7 but don't go higher.

With my old X3450 I had it at 1750MHz and booted at 19-something.

Don't forget to raise VCCIN.

Nahh, im just buying cause Ive found it for cheap, like 10€ with 4GB of ram and later with xeon 3.2x4 (less than 10€).
Then I conclude the 775 socket.
My main system is 1150 (signature).
This is just my portable system for lan party.

My lan party system is a laptop 😀

i5 7300HQ, 8GB DDR4, GTX 1050 4GB (non ti), 256gb Samsung 860 Evo, 2TB Seagate FireCuda. Spent $400 on the base laptop on Facebook Marketplace, came with a 1tb SSHD. I was like nah, that won't work.

Spent $75 on the SSD, it came with p0rn on it, so the seller refunded me. Then I traded some RAM for the 2tb FireCuda.

Not a bad machine, although I really hate how Intel handles turbo boost. 3.5ghz on 1 core, 3.1 on 4 cores...

My Passmark sing.thread for the i5 7300hq is from this laptop, with one core at 3.1, if I go into BIOS an disable 3 cores the single threaded rating is close to 2000.

I personally dont like laptops at all, not used to it.
My pc that is on slashed pc case fits in my backpack (which I use for my job and other stuff).

I use it for old games like cod waw, some newer like broforce, serious sam, and etc.
I personally made few maps for cod waw, which I didnt publish cause the forums are somewhat dead 🙁.

Im quite happy that I didnt deep scan used hdds that Ive bought xp.

Sorry i cannot reply to your comment, im using phone since im at work.

The paladin : sometimes manufactor locks some options like overcklocking so you cant see that option in the bios. Dont ask me how they unlock them i have no idea. Its not just overclocking, it can be fan control or virtualization too.

It's H175M, and the CPU is locked anyways. Multi goes from 8-35 but only to 31 with all 4 cores, jsut the design of Intel TB. I wish it was temperature dependent rather than core usage dependent.

Head on over to bios-mods.com, there's quite a bit over there. Just waiting for someone to puck up my laptop.

My laptop's auto fan control could not be more perfect, one fan for CPU and one fan for GPU,and they spin up over 50c and max out above 65c.

I'm gonna be getting a nicer motherboard for it once warranty expires in March of next year.

Is it msi laptop with hm175? You might find it here if you have this model : http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/msi-gt73vr-bios-unlock-mod-factory-restore-clear-cmos-and-prevent-common-issues.812372/

I never do it myself too much work but there is guide in first page

No it's a Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567. Good lil lappy if I say so myself.

well that was perfect, not only found a nice updated unlocked Bios for my l702x but also got one with both specter patches.
thank for the tip

ok btw here is the score on that laptop was at 2200 something , and now a beautiful x31 speed and 6xxx score.

Did you say that your B85 board doesn't support 4790K? There's a BIOS on the ASUS forums that says it does.

Also, try using a program called CPU-Tweaker to change your memory command rate or doing it in BIOS...Higher memory speeds means higher benchmark scores 😀

I have a bunch of C2D and C2Q I haven't benched yet.

I dont look for bunch C2D and C2Q, E6500K was especially launched in China only, and I saw it ONCE!!!!!
For merly 15$....

Was hitting 383X9=3.5GHz FSB with 3907 score that around 1500 rated FSB.
Still tweaking ram... At some reviews this ram can easily hit 600MHz at 2.4V 5-5-5-18-13(what is this 13???).

Im not going anywhere above 1.5V on this shiny Q6600, Im scared for it, neither the cooler was designed to withstand 150W, i started to smell something like plastic, no ty.
Single 4 pin connector instead of 8, because cheap-o PSU, I just wait for it to pop :).
I also might look for DDR2 1066 since they are quite cheap here, 15-20$ for kit of 2x2GB.

Q6600 @3.28 1.5125V (real 1.488V)
Ram 515 5-5-5-15-2T
FSB 410
Rated 1640
