I have a TP-Link router (Model Number TD-W8951ND) and I am struggling to make it work. it was working initially and all of the sudden it stopped working. It is showing very weird behavior
Following are the issues with the router

1. First three leds light continuously as soon as router is turned on (It should take a while if its working)
2. Wifi signal led is not lighting. I tried toggling wifi button at the back of the router but all in vain.
3. I tried to reset by pressing the reset button for 5-6 seconds. But no effect on router.
4. I cannot browse router configuration page with ip http://192.168.1.1. The browser says the page is not found.
5. I tried unplugging and then plugging all the cables, but in vain.
6. I tried turning router on and off continuously and after a gap of several hours, still in vain.

What's wrong with the router? How can I fix this?
Any help will be appreciated

Thanks in advance
Sabin

Consumer-priced routers (certain brands anyway) have a reputation for just packing up after a few years, which is why I always keep a never-been-used spare one in my cupboard so I can instantly check if my current router is faulty.

If you don't have a spare one to substitute, try to borrow one to check if yours is faulty. Otherwise just buy one.
I only buy Netgear ones as they seem to be pretty reliable and durable. Current one is 4 years old and still counting.

Thanks for the reply,

It was working yesterday, and all of sudden it stopped working. I just want to confirm whether it can be repaired or not before buying new one.

Nobody repairs routers as it's not worth doing. Even if you return it under warranty they don't repair it, they just send you a another new one. If the warranty has expired it would cost as much for repairs as a new one so that definitely isn't worthwhile. Like I said, that's why it pays to keep a known-working spare then you'd know within minutes if it was faulty.
I keep one in use and two never-used spare ones.

"Suddenly stopped working" is typical of routers, that's just how it is with them - - no warning, just packs up. More expensive ones like the Billion brand are far more rugged and reliable but they come at a price, nearly £200 in the UK but then you don't have to replace it two or three times so over the long term it works out no more expensive than the cheaper ones.

Try doing a factory reset of your router before you toss it.

Look in the user manual, or try the 30-30-30 method:

With the unit powered on, press and hold the reset button on back of unit for 30 seconds
Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for another 30 seconds
Plug the unit back in STILL holding the reset button a final 30 seconds

From the user manual: http://www.tp-link.com/resources/document/TD-W8951ND_V5_User_Guide_1910010890.pdf

T1.
How do I restore my modem router’s configuration to its factory default settings?
With the modem router powered on, press and hold the RESET button on the rear panel for 8 to 10 seconds before releasing it.
Once the modem router is reset, the current configuration settings will be lost and you will need to re-configure the modem router.
