[SOLVED] Tried installing a new i9-9900k, did not boot

Current PC Specs:
GPU: RTX 2060
CPU: i7-6700k(this is the original)
Mobo: MSI Arsenal gaming z270 ddr4
Ram: Corsair vengeance 16gb

Howdy. I just tried to install my new i9-9900k, but when trying to boot up, the Mobo light would just blink and turn off again. So I think "okay, maybe I Removed up somewhere in there when I was swapping cpu's." But the only thing I removed was the heatsink and the cpu itself. I did not unplug any internal wires or rearrange anything. So I put the old cpu back in, and everything booted completely normal, no message even stating a hardware change. I checked the pins on the i9 and they don't seem to be broken. My only guess is Mobo incompatibility?

Even though the socket is still 1151, that specific board is only compatible with 6th/7th gen CPUs.

Yeah I just was looking at the combatible cpu's for my board and saw that. Thank you for answering my dumb question anyway!

Eventually you might try to get a new MB, which can use your 9900k?
