Hello,

I have an 89gb .iso game and I tried to install in my SSD which is not my primary disk.

After some time, I saw that the install was completed (or closed unexpectedly) but when I tried to access folders and files in my SSD, I was always getting the error: A device which does not exist was specified.

I restarted my computer and the disk was missing from "My Computer". I opened the Disk Management and I was automatically prompted to Initialize the disk. I tried to do it but I got the same error A device which does not exist was specified.

After that I tried to format the disk through DISKPART but I got the same error.

How can I format the disk so I can access it again?

Some additional notes:

The boot time has increased dramatically (from 10-15 sec to around 1-2 min).
The disk was working as indented prior to that. Also I think the free space on the SSD before installing the game was smaller than the actual size of the game.

I checked the Event Logger and I have a lot (around 40000) of the following Warnings:
  1. {Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame\CookedPCConsole\BioD_QuaTlL_502MainLab.pcc. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.
  2. An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 during a paging operation.

I have attached an imgur link with printscreens containing the errors.

I suspected that but I wanted to be sure.

I have the disk for 5+ years so its out of warranty for sure.

Thank you for your reply!

My one and only SSD death was a 960GB SanDisk. Died at 3 yrs, 33 days.
Absolute sudden death. Nothing I could do would make it reappear.

33 days past the 3 yr warranty.

SanDisk gave me a free replacement anyway.
All 605GB data on it was recovered from my nightly backup routine.

Yep...it has happened to all of us.
Smart people don't let it happen a second time.
