Question Upgrading SSD Questions

Hello, I typically work with Virtualization and Software, not hardware so much anymore, so I'm seeking so guidance here.

I have a Sager Laptop with Windows 10 that is a few years old. Windows lives on C:\ (SSD of 500 GB) and there is an extra drive of 500 GB (D:\) of SSD where VMs live. I'm starting to hit a space limitation of VMs that I can run due to the space and would like to upgrade to 2 TB of SSD.

Currently the SSD on D:\ is a Samsung SSD 860 EVO M.2.

I see that Newegg has a Samsung M.2 drive of 2 TB in size, and I think this will work as a replacement

You didn't mention the model# of the Sager so we could determine if that SSD would even work in it.
M2 is just the interface and can support multiple types of devices depending on what the manufacturer chose to enable in it.

If you currently have a 500GB 860 EVO M.2, then a 2TB 860 EVO M.2 is a drop in replacement.

Given that, NO problem.
You don't need any cloning tools or fancy procedures.

Copy the data on the D drive to some other location, physically swap the 500GB for the 2TB, copy the data back in to the new drive.
