From my understanding, SSD's should not be more than 80%. Over provisioning sets an amount of the storage for the SSD for performance and longevity. So if I set the over provisioning to 20% would I be able to tick both of these boxes? Or should I prevent my SSD from hitting 80% of its remaining storage after losing some space to over provisioning? I have a Samsung 990 EVO and 990 PRO NVMe SSD if that matters.

The OP is mainly just to keep you from filling it up too much.
You don't have to think about it and manually manipulate that space.

After setting the OP, the amount you see can be used 100%.
