Question Using Seagate Toolkit for Backup on Expansion Portable Drive

I want to purchase the Seagate 4TB Expansion portable STKM4000400 and want to use it as a backup drive. This model does not come with software according to Seagates website (2nd link below). Not sure if this is the toolkit software that some models include or not. But I see in the 1st link below that the Expansion Portable drives do not support Backup or any other Toolkit features through the Toolkit software. Is this really something that cannot be done? because if the Toolkit software is what is included in some other models like the STKN4000400, then why would it be included if none of the Toolkit features are supported. Also, if the Toolkit software cannot be used to create backups on these drives, then would any other backup software work?
