Thank you for your reply. Here's where I'm at now:
Yes, this is what I did. I double-clicked "Add printer" then selected
"network printer." I then clicked "browse," and maneuvered until I found
the correct work group and computer, and then finally the correct printer
and I selected it and clicked "OK." then "Next >." It then took me to a
list of printers, and HP Deskjet 720c was not on that list. I don't know
why it needs to know what kind of printer it is since the other computer
already knows what kind of printer it is and it is installed and working and
online and has paper and it is found by browsing the network. I have the HP
software on my computer to install it as a local printer. It is not a local
printer, but the driver is there, so I ought to be able to click "Have Disk"
but that doesn't work either. If I click on Network, it asks for a drive
letter, path, and whether to reconnect at logon. So I selected an arbitrary
drive letter ( in this case I chose drive 'J:' ) typed in the path to the
shared printer ( \\WORKGROUP\printer1 ) on the other computer, and selected
"reconnect on logon." That still didn't work. I still am doing something
wrong. Thanks for your continued help.
