do i overclock this through bios? or through some program..i wanna push it to about 3.5 to 3.7 ghz just through the cooling i have now in my dell xps 600..is this possible?

Nope. The only way is to update BIOS for that particular Dell mobo.

If you try to update it with a BIOS for a different mobo then you can consider your PC dead 'cause that will scramble everything.

Trust me, Dell will never release a BIOS update that will allow you to overclock.

oh well
ill build my own pc after i get a job

What are your whole system specs? If it's got a decent video card, hard drive, RAM, etc. you can just reuse those and buy a new board. You might also need a new case, but that's not a big deal.

Hello

you might want to try clockgen. the software might let you overclock your processor in windows einvironment.

let me know if it helps

Thura.

No trust me, there is no possible way to overclock a dell pc, I've tried for months. I've got a Dell Dimension 5150 (the one below) and I've tried everything from looking for new bios's, using every overclocking software known to man and anything else I can think of, and nothing worked. The only thing I was able to overclock was my graphics card. Sorry bud, but if you want to overclock, you're gonna have to buy a new board.

You'll also have to buy an OS. Most OEM's give you "system discs", or

"restore discs". Not an actual copy of Windows.

Unfortunately clockgen, and the like, only allows you to alter bios, on a temp basis, from the windows environment.
While dell etc may not give you a cd, you do purchase the license. You can use someone elses cd, but your own license code.
To get your cd key, download and run magic jellybean.
