Hello. I want to update my ten-year-old system.

My question is simple: should I wait a few months to buy anything? Will new GPUs / CPUs / Mobos be announced soon thereby lowering the price of what's available now?

Sorry for the possibly obvious question, but I am both a bit ignorant about the topic and haven't looked at what is happening with the newest components or when the new ones come out, so I am trying to remember what I did once know years ago and catch up.

Additional question if you have a opinion: due to recent reported problems with 13th and 14th generation Intel CPUS, as reported by Wendell and others (

), should I go with the newest AMD CPUs instead?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

What to buy depends on your use case. If you continue to wait for the next big thing, that is a few months out, you will be waiting forever. With Ryzen 9000 coming at the end of the month, though, I would wait until those benchmarks are released. I would definitely avoid buying a 13th or 14th gen i9.

Thanks, logain. That's what I figured. I'll hold off then.

Yeah, I saw that. Quite a deal on good chips. I've thought of going that way too.
