Question WD Black² Dual Drive 2.5” 120 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD

Hi all,

After reformatting my internal WD Black² Dual Drive, the SSD partition (windows) is gone…i can’t find a way to recover it…is just gone, i don’t know what to do, can anyone please help me?

Please show us a screencap of the current Disk Management window.

But what did you reformat and why?

Generally, these hyvbrid drives used the small SSD portion as a cache space. Not a discreet "drive" you can actually use.

The SSD partition was where Windows was set up, it came like that by default, the PC was slow and I wanted to reformat it and install a fresh version of Windows but now the SSD part is gone...
The disk management windows only shows the regular HDD

Booted with the windows flash drive and selected the drive inside of the drive selection in the settings

The partition which Windows was on? Or the entire SSD? Are you using a Live CD to see this?

I just did that, and it installed the driver...asked me to restart the pc...installed some more while booting windows (in a black screen) and after i came back to windows i got a prompt saying that it was installed correctly, but i still can't see it in my disk management windows...am i missing something?

Try GParted on a Live CD and see if anything changes.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear, try and boot from the Live CD

Looks to me that C: partition is the SSD (111.79GB) and D: partition is the HDD (931.51GB), and that it's working properly?

It's going through 1 SATA port and using port multiplication

is there any way i can see if that is an SSD, the speed makes me think this is not the SSD, the reading speed was used to be way but way faster than what i have now, and also it didn't make any noise while "reading"

Get-PhysicalDisk | Format-Table -AutoSize

It can't be anything but the "SSD".

That looks normal to me C drive the SSD. It does look like you had both drives installed when you installed windows and part of it went on the HDD.

It is one "physical drive".
120GB SSD and 1TB HDD in the same 2.5" form factor.
