Hi! I just want to know which is the best AMD cpu for gaming. I don't mind the series, I just want the best till now (including FX).. I am going to build a gaming rig.. My settings will be the highest possible, the screen resolution 1920x1080.. And the gpu Radeon hd 6950..

If money is no issue get the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition. There are a ton of benchmarks comparing the 1100T vs the FX-8150. Alot of fake results but also a few legit ones. End of the day the 8-core CPU does beat the 1100T CPU but not by much. So I would forget all the hype of the 8-core and buy AMD's 2nd best CPU for like $60 cheaper. Don't take my word for it though I'm but a newbie still to this forum. 😛
Thanks for your opinion! And I believe too that 60$ more for the 8150 don't worth it.. The strange thing is that I saw the benchmarks in here: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html Look that the 8120 has almost 10000, byt probably it's mistaken.. I'm a newbie too..😉
I have also checked the Phenom II x4 980.. It has nice benches but in Greece where i am from is only by little cheaper by the 1090T black edition (10euros).. So till now 6core cpus think that worth more.. In the summer i was waiting like crazy for the bulldozers but now I am dissapointed.. Despite that I will wait for a little time cause the last 3 days in my country the 8150 has dropped from 260 to 240 euros.. If it would drop to 210-220, I may reconsider.. Till then i am living with a core2 quad Q9400.. It's ok for the moment till I decide. Thanks anyway..

I don't think a core 2 quad is going to be much slower than the 1090T... From what I gather, the 1090 excells more in heavily threaded apps and not so much in games.

You can select various CPU's and it will give you the bench comparison. from what I seen, the 1090T won't give you a whole lot more performance in games compared to your Q9400.

The truth is that Q9400 has served me well the last three years but as said in the beginning I want a new proccessor for a new rig.. Anyways my current PC isn't going to be "off" because I will give it to my younger brother.. It has on it an nvidia 9800 GT 1gb ddr3 and it's pretty good for playing games in medium settings.. Well if you really want to build, the 1090T or even 1100T would make you happy. I am just thinking maybe save ya some bucks, or if you can wait, investigate other areas of your computer to see if you can get some better gaming out of the current machine you have.

Well if u really want AMD, though I suggest Intel if you want gaming performance, u could either go for this AMD Phenom II X4 980 BE, although it's a waste of cash, or u could try this AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE, more than enough for gaming, and for the extra cash u can spend'em on better GPU.
Well.. In the beginning I hadn't really given a chance to 955, but if is not going to see any important difference from the sixcores, it seems a reasonable choice and in a nice price.. Does anyone know how much can this one be overclocked with a HyperTX3 cooler??

If you have money to spend on a faster CPU you should look into Intel (i5-2500k).
The gap between AMD/Intel in gaming is ever so increasing with high end GPU setups.
On a more important note, your Q9400 with a little overclocking will be nearly as fast as the Phenom II CPUs in gaming (within 400mhz), especially with a single 6950. Some C2Q actually have higher IPC than Phenom II. Yours maybe not so much, only having 6MB L2, but it's darn close.
Wait until you need more GPU power than a 6950 and then upgrade the rest of your system.
My Q9550 is lasting me til IvyBridge. Runs my 6970 just as good as my friend's 4.6ghz i5-2500k ran his GTX 570. He has SLI now however =] so he's pushing massive frames hehe. C2Q AND Phenom II can't handle GTX 570 SLI without a tough amount of bottlenecking.
Still haven't found a game I'm not more than happy with using a single 6970, except maybe BF3. It ran great for me during beta but on release they'll be including tessellation. We'll see!

I have checked the intel cpus mentioned, but are far more expensive according to my expectations and my budjet.. I know that have a good performance but in that price thanks, I will go with AMD... As for the q9400, I will give this to my brother to replace his "dead" pentium 4 640 cpu.. He will be more than happy with the core2quad..!! And for the gpu (in Greece where I am from) I have found a very great deal for the 6950 so it's really hard to find something else that its value will be close to my money...
