"... I saw the firestorm that Pat McGroin started with the first post here, and I do not want that.....
Well then what kind of firestorm do you want....? This is looking more and more like a ShitStorm (much rarer and leaves all parties involved with that *** taste in their mouths...
And this is why I love the internet; because a man named Pat McGroin can spur some lively debates, where in real life I would be more shocked about meeting a person named Pat McGroin.
Also the "Hologram" theory about creation is technically the most logical. without too much detail wouldn't it be so plausible that one day in the near future we would have computers capable of recreating the universe from a big bang scenario atom by atom and fast forwarding 14 billion years and this is what the program creates. A bunch of Aszholes on the internet (A computer help forum no less, if this is a program the irony hurts so bad!) fighting about religion.......
Yes. You hold your head backwards (to the mirror), not upside down to it. If you looked the same direction the mirror is 'looking', you couldn't see it, so the only way that you can look at it is 'backwards'. And I have posed that one to people before just to see them think

/reynod's exhaustive search for physics majors at THG ends in sadness.
i follow no religion, i just beleive theres a mega super computer who created the earth and where its physical manifestations and creations, we are the minions of earth indeed, well thats just one theory anyways, cheers

Which theory dies the death of an infinite regression
While I concede the very, very slim possibility of some greater being, everything I know about the universe so far doesn't need one to explain how things work. And coming from the other direction, everything I know about people tells me that all religions are just collections of myths. The likelihood that people got it anywhere close to right seems to me to be vanishingly small.
A great line from an episode of House (paraphrased from memory): If there *is* a god, it's so incomprehensible to humans that discussing it would be like two penguins in Antarctica discussing nuclear physics.
I wonder why there are so many religion.
My personnal way of thinking/resolving what a religion is :
2k years before now, they had nothing to believe in.
They had no clue about anything.
What can they do ?
Create something powerful as a god and believe in it.
Now us 2k years later, we have brains, school and science.
Nobody ever saw a god.
Why believe ?
Because you feel empty and religion fills you.
I don't feel empty.
No one will tell me to do 10 prayer a day for something that never gave me anything.
If you tell me they gave you life, then you are so wrong.
Nobody GAVE you life, because when you give something to someone, you don't take it back.
There are only those who don't believe and those who needs to find answer.
The thing is that those who need those anwser won't ever get em.

Not quite. 2k years ago they believed in hundreds of gods. Polytheism was the main belief structure. Then monotheism (1 god) became popular at that 2k year ago time point. It started to become too difficult to spread the word of your hundreds of gods so up sprang the idea of just 1 god to rule over all which was easier to tell people about.
My point was more that they had no clue wtf they were doing here.
A little like us today, we got a few anwsers, many facts and science to help believe in something we may find "real".
I don't believe in any sort of gods because they would be floating in the air watching us ?
What would be the point of doing so ?
Why would they do that ?
We are testers ?
Beta ?
lol
So many questions.
I'm just saying that we have facts that 2k years before now they were probably so lost they'd good reason to believe into sun god that makes the sun go on and on.
I mean ... We all know now that we turn around the sun ...
I think that the higher the IQ, the less we need to believe in something.
I'm somewhat intelligent, In some sort of way I know what may be real and what not.
Reading a book made of over 2k years of crap, fine.
Believe in it ... okk...
Do 10 prayers a day on a carpet ... like ... yeah.,..
He will bless you with virgins SUREEEEE
Nobody knows what's after death.
If I'd believe that killing people would grant me virgins, I'd rather rape all of them in the real world than hoping he will gave me those promised virgins once dead.
Just my two cents.
Sorry for hard language, I wouldn't rape anyone, it's just in that case.
Coming back to the IQ theory I had.
Who the %$#! would do that except a retarded person ?
Anyways.
Religions are out.
Now we have to move our 455 to find a clean energy instead of praying to survive.
We are killing our planet with petrolium products.
Like if there wasn't no other way to make our cars move forward.
All region is bad it causes wars and slows down progression of man in my opinion in the future we will all be Atheists and we will progress a lot quicker
