I have an AsRock G31M-S (Rev1) Mobo. I'd like to run 8x 2TB HDDs (for software RAID 5) plus a 240GB SSD boot drive. As this is a total of 9 sata II chanels, and the mobo accepts 4 sata channels, which PCIe card/cards do I need to get my total up to 9. The mobo has 1 PCIe x16 slot and 1 PCIe x1 slot? Is this even possible? - In case you're wondering, I'm installing Ubuntu Server on an old machine to breathe new life into it and to leave my synology NAS for something more flexible. Hope you can help.

Hmm. Thank you very much. A little out of my price range though. May be cheaper to just use the ports that I have and just get a few larger capacity drives. I was kind of hoping to use my 2x 2TB drives from my NAS. Is there a way set up an array with parity that doesn't involve having to have all the drives the same capacity? I've seen something like it on youtube once but can't remember what exactly. I've also looked at SnapRAID with mergerFS on Linux. Any ideas?
