Hey PETEvsDRM
I don¡¦'t know if I'm a eligible candidate as I think I might be too late and i might be upgrading to a complete new system in the future if my parents agree to pay for the other half (more likely no than yes
🙁 ). My Parents have been divorced since I was 11 and I live with my mom now.
I want to give my sob story anyway as I think you might find it interesting and I have pics of my sad machine. And I think I am a good candidate for the content of my post and pictures provided along with having a sad, sad old machine.
Well I've seen a few stories of people already with PCI-E systems and in my books decent graphics cards (6600gt) and I think this should rather go to someone looking to get out of the soggy APG hole, believe me guys I know what its like, its not fun! Ill make an exception for the guy whose girlfriend used his upgrade money on her own stuff! I feel for you, you got a raw deal man (all women are evil; we will just have to live with it).
My name is Greg and I'm a 16 year old student in High School and have no income with which to buy a pc on my own, I have about half the cash I need to upgrade my pc to a PCI-E computer (buy a new one but use my old Hard drive and DVD drive in the new one along with old screen, mouse, keyboard etc)
Well to my sad machine now, I'm running an ancient 2 and a half year old P4 3.0 GHz CPU on an ancient gigabyte AGP motherboard, 1 gig RAM, 80 gig hdd with a broken 9600XT, the Heat sink fan doesn't work! Basically the card is completely buggered, most of the time when I start up the pc I have to jingle the card around in the PC a bit otherwise I get the most insane video artifacts I've ever seen! And I'm talking about artifacts in the windows starting up screen! Also I can't game for too long otherwise the card overheats and then my screen gets no output... I read about some of you running with (working) 6 series cards and I saw one saying that his lagged at high settings.. MINE LAGS AT LOWEST SETTINGS! = / *cries*
If you give me the card ill be able to upgrade my pc to a new one right away with the money ive saved up and put the card to good use, and then maybe upgrade further in the future when I can find the money. I've been saving for a new pc for more than a year now.
I live in South Africa which further aggravates things as computer parts prices are far more expensive here than in the USA. A card like that in South Africa would cost about $380-400 no jokes!

Rand Dollar exchange rate is about 6.80 to 7 Rand (Rand being the Currency in South Africa for those that might be a bit confused) to the dollar. We also need to pay Value added Tax of 14% on all products.
If you think I'm the best candidate for the card ill pay for the shipping of the card to South Africa. Also when I no longer need this card I will make sure to do exactly the same as what you did, I respect you immensely for thinking about those less fortunate than yourself and giving away this card to the best cause.
Greg
EDIT: My pc actually failed multiple times when I turned it off to take pictures of it, taking a lot of trial and error jiggling of the GFX card (more than 20 restarts ! eeek!) *sigh*
