Hello and my respect for your give away!

I'm a student and I hope you will consider me also as a potential winner for your gift.

I have at the moment a sparkle 6200 128DDR/128Bit on agp modded to 6600 with riva tunner, but it's struggles in many games...
If i will win your gift i promise that i will change my motherboard (asus a8v-deluxe) to a motherboard with pci-express and put your card in my old rig (amd x2 939 3800+, 1.5Gb DDR, cdrw, WD 80JB)

I will wait for your decision and if i will win I'll get the money and pay for the delivery to Romania.

Best Regards,
Dragos from Romania

PS: my first post here 😀
I'm reading tomshardware since 2001 but this is the first time i'm using my account to post something :)
I will look in your eyes as a begger and i know that i have no chance to win, but i wanna thank you and all like you that are giving away precious things for people that can't afford something new and powerfull!

shipping for 1 graphics card overseas is almost $80USD... you might as well buy a card locally for that price..

Along with this one???

2 things.

the small text says, that is a computer projected for 2004. rofl.

second, my favorite part is the giant wheel house like steering wheel it has.
i will be installing one of those in the very near future.

hi
i read your post and thought y not try my luck. in my pc the only thing that is expensive is my mobo, asus p5b deluxe, which i got as a gift. apart from tht, i have 256mb ram and ati x700 vga card. i have pentium D. i love to play games but u can expect what will happen with 256mb ram and ati x700. hope this is sufficient.hope to hear from u soon.

I have what I'd consider to be a midrange rig, but my video card fried on me shortly after I got it, and I can't afford a new one, so I've been stuck with a Radeon 7000 since, Needless to say I can't game anymore 🙁 And unfortunately for me no dust at all in my case.

I will be crafting a steering wheel onto my computer very soon as well, I have no idea what it's for but it looks important 😀

Dam I am still running a asus geforce 5700. Try playing hl2 or even quake 4 on that. Fear runs at 7 fps in the best places. Trying to save money for collage which is dam expensive poor me.

Ouch! Pentium D with an x700 - you've got to post some pics of that!

as promised here are the pictures of the insides. The video card is a 6200LE. Took some of the PC and the card and one of the display settings... if u need more let me know.

I have a bad feeling about this guy. That mobo is too nice to be running that junkie card. I am guessing he already has a 7900GT and he wants this free one to run SLI. Just a guess.

BUSTED!!
I'm actually doing a gift build this summer, my sis is graduating HS and on her way to college(game design). So i'm building her a pc to hopefully aid her venture and keep her from getting an Xbox (take THAT consoles!!) In the spirit of giving; give it to me, so my amazing sis can have an amazing pc. FYI, i won't be using it for myself cuz my video card is a double slot and extra tall. I won't be able to pull a fast one and put that in the gift build cuz its a SFF case. Her pc is already going to frag mine to bits.

Try gaming on a northwood celeron 2,7 and a Radeon 7000, worst of all I have a c2d E4300 and a board, but I can't use it because I don't have a PCI-e card yet. A "friend" of mine was supposed to get me an x1650 pro for helping him out but then he disappeared.

Sorry to say that my case isn't actually looking that bad these days! Until about 2 months ago I was using an ancient Slot A AMD 700 mhz processor and a 9800 that I bummed off a friend. (192mb ram and Yamaha ISA sound card) All of this, and it was in a ghettofied 10 year old Gateway Case that was covered in Intel Stickers and wood paneling. Yes, I put wood paneling on it. 😀 Anyway, I got an Antec 900 for my birthday... but still had the ancient hardware in it. Knowing how bad my system was, I was quite interested in upgrading. I bought an Opty 165, and stuck it in a mobo that I got for free from my friend. That 7900 would work GREAT in my system! (please!)

I am a poor college student at Michigan State University, and am studying to be a Computer Engineer. I would love to send you pictures of my old case and hardware, but the DIAL UP I am on is MUCH too slow!
BTW: DRM is EVIL! (but you already knew that! 😀 )

Interesting post.

I have a 915G pc that is 2-3 yrs old now. I qualify but would not elect to go for the card. I can not use my desktop PC more than a couple of hours due to the fact that I have a damaged nerve in my back. Can not sit for more than a couple of hrs before the pain forces me to lay down. I have had 4 surgeries on my back, with a possiable 5th depending on the outcome of a myelogram that was taken earlier this week. I'm now on SS Disability, so that tells you my income is not very much.

Good bust. And just so he doesn't edit the thread, I quoted it and have a ScreenShot. Woot!!

Below are my system spec's. Right now i'm running at 3.2ghz (1425fsb). I want to get it to 1600fsb to have 1:1 with my ram. I've also listed the voltages that I have running. Would like any recommendations on any voltage adjustments or clock adjustments to allow for a larger overclock.
Using Unlinked overclocking option.

C2D E6600 w/Zalman 9500LED
BFG 680i P23 bios
Corsair Dominator PC2-6400 (4-4-4-12) 2x1gb
BFG 8800GTX
Soundblaster Fata1ity XtremeGamer Pro
Thermaltake Toughpower 750W
WD 150gb Raptor

Voltages (all other voltages are auto)
vCore = 1.3v
vDimm = 2.1v

Temperatures (at 3.2ghz)
idle = 41C
max = 50C (dual Prime95 after 12hrs)

All the spread spectrums and other options specified in Nvidias overclocking pdf have been disabled. I can boot into Windows with the bus at 1600 in sync or unlinked but it locks up. Just unsure what to set the other voltages at to be considered "safe" without frying the board/cpu.

Yeah I was kind of suspicious of him anyway , cuz he PM'ed me for my e-mail address to send the pictures to. I guess he figured someone would recognize the rig. :lol:

Ive had an FX 5200 for about 2 years now.

Gaming is the thing I love doing more than anything, but prices here are far too high.. almost 200$ for a 7600 GS.

Great concept and very generous of you to offer something like this.
Thanks in advance for consideration.

I am a disabled vet, married, have 2 kids, total yearly income is approx 35K. My wife is in school and ALL our money goes to mortgage, bills, daycare, food and insurance. I have a Asus A8n32 SLI Deluxe, AMD 3800, 1 GB old Kinston PC2700 valueram and a GeForce 6600. I do not see me having $ for an upgrade for at least 2-3 years (wife graduates). I can post pictures after I get off work.

Perfect candidate :lol:

Don't forget to put the note in the pics :)

His income beats mine by 10k, But I don't have 2 small kids. I only have 1 26 yr old at home, has a learning disability, may never leave home. I have been married for 32 yrs though. Was ready to retire, but not 10 yrs earlier than I planned on.

Put him on you list, as a possiable.

As you notice in my signature I have some good hardware. But I only paid $400 for the Snap4500 and Snap 10 exp unit without drives.

Hey PETEvsDRM

I don¡¦'t know if I'm a eligible candidate as I think I might be too late and i might be upgrading to a complete new system in the future if my parents agree to pay for the other half (more likely no than yes 🙁 ). My Parents have been divorced since I was 11 and I live with my mom now.

I want to give my sob story anyway as I think you might find it interesting and I have pics of my sad machine. And I think I am a good candidate for the content of my post and pictures provided along with having a sad, sad old machine.

Well I've seen a few stories of people already with PCI-E systems and in my books decent graphics cards (6600gt) and I think this should rather go to someone looking to get out of the soggy APG hole, believe me guys I know what its like, its not fun! Ill make an exception for the guy whose girlfriend used his upgrade money on her own stuff! I feel for you, you got a raw deal man (all women are evil; we will just have to live with it).

My name is Greg and I'm a 16 year old student in High School and have no income with which to buy a pc on my own, I have about half the cash I need to upgrade my pc to a PCI-E computer (buy a new one but use my old Hard drive and DVD drive in the new one along with old screen, mouse, keyboard etc)

Well to my sad machine now, I'm running an ancient 2 and a half year old P4 3.0 GHz CPU on an ancient gigabyte AGP motherboard, 1 gig RAM, 80 gig hdd with a broken 9600XT, the Heat sink fan doesn't work! Basically the card is completely buggered, most of the time when I start up the pc I have to jingle the card around in the PC a bit otherwise I get the most insane video artifacts I've ever seen! And I'm talking about artifacts in the windows starting up screen! Also I can't game for too long otherwise the card overheats and then my screen gets no output... I read about some of you running with (working) 6 series cards and I saw one saying that his lagged at high settings.. MINE LAGS AT LOWEST SETTINGS! = / *cries*

If you give me the card ill be able to upgrade my pc to a new one right away with the money ive saved up and put the card to good use, and then maybe upgrade further in the future when I can find the money. I've been saving for a new pc for more than a year now.

I live in South Africa which further aggravates things as computer parts prices are far more expensive here than in the USA. A card like that in South Africa would cost about $380-400 no jokes!
http://www.take2.co.za/product.php?id=2005301

Rand Dollar exchange rate is about 6.80 to 7 Rand (Rand being the Currency in South Africa for those that might be a bit confused) to the dollar. We also need to pay Value added Tax of 14% on all products.

If you think I'm the best candidate for the card ill pay for the shipping of the card to South Africa. Also when I no longer need this card I will make sure to do exactly the same as what you did, I respect you immensely for thinking about those less fortunate than yourself and giving away this card to the best cause.

Greg

EDIT: My pc actually failed multiple times when I turned it off to take pictures of it, taking a lot of trial and error jiggling of the GFX card (more than 20 restarts ! eeek!) *sigh*
