I am a 25 year old college student, that I have to live with my parents, because I am working full time, but pay child support to my ex wife, which because of my school schedule I can really only work as a server at a restraunt. Between high gas prices and child support, if it wasn't for living with my parents I would be homeless. I have no extra money at all. I am currently running a Athlon XP 2500+ oc'd to a 2900, (2.0 ghz with the fsb set to 200 mhz). 1 gig ram, sometimes working dvd burner, almost never working dvd drive. 120 gig hdd, and a 80 gig from an old system. I have a geforce 4 ti 4200 with a processor fan jimmy rigged onto it because my fan that came on it went bad. I can't even dream of running today's games on any resolution. I did just get some money leftover from my student loans and am getting ready to order a mobo and cpu so i can at least have a low end dual core setup. I am currently researching mobos, but i only have enough for the mobo and low end proc, so i have to be able to reuse my memory and the rest of my system until i can get a little extra money. To make matters worse, i just started going to school summer quarter this year, so I have a long road ahead. I am hoping that after my school fees and books are paid for next quarter i have enough left to buy a new monitor, I have a 21" crt monitor that a friend of mine gave to me when he got a 22" lcd. My case is multi-colored because I got it from the same guy, he had started painting it, but then never finished. So i have 1 green panel and the rest is beige. I will post pics when i get home as I am in school right now. so around 8-9 pm, eastern time. I am also having to use onboard sound because my audigy card took a crap on me and I don't have the money to buy another card. I used to have my hard drive setup in removable drive bays, but then they started overheating all the time in there and giving me all kinds of problems. So now i have them in the hard drive slots in back of a 120mm fan that blows over them to keep them cool. I haven't cleaned my case in a few months, so I would think it will be dusty.

Also on a side note if anyone knows of any really awesome deals on a cheap mobo and dual core proc that can use ddr 333, please pm me and let me know. I have a little less than $150 to get the two items.

Hello, I am that poor college student 🙁

My name is Andrew, I am 19 years old, and I am dead broke. I have been using the same system for 2 years now, and do not see that changing anytime soon in the foreseeable future 🙁

I work at a local sandwich shop at $7.50 an hour, and that currently goes to pay for my gas, car insurance, school books, fees, and what little is left goes to my school loans. This summer I will be saving up money to hopefully pay off the rest of my loan for this year, so I can rinse and repeat for the next 3 years of college (AKA, I will not be financially able to upgrade my rig until after I graduate, unless an act of God occurs)

I'm 17 from California going to community college and high school at the same time, and working a small job on the side.. about 90% of what I earn which isn't much to start with goes to either my classes for books, food or gas. In my free time
I really like to play fps but also have a bunch of games that I got as presents that I can't even play without it being very choppy.. like DOOM3 GTA:SA Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, Half Life 2 and I try to play cs:s competitively but have always been hindered by my system. I have a single parent, but who doesn't nowadays.. and if my mom could give me money it wouldn't go towards a computer anyway.. it would be for food or clothes.. so this would be like a blessing.. and I too believe in karma and would pass the act of kindness on.. I hope you consider me at least, as I really can't see myself getting an upgrade in the near future..

hy i'mi back , i am confident that you will direct some attention to me , as i sad my VC is a crappy 4mb matrox , but i Have a venice that i can oc to 2.6ghz(now on 2.5) (i've changed the cooler on the cpu radiator to cool it better) ,i've got a zalman chipset cooler ,and 2 casefans , my Mobo is an Abit nforce 4 ultra and 1gb of kingston memory that does ddr480 cl 2.5 3 3 7 on 2.8v, and of course my newest thing is my Power supply , a thermaltake 430W sli certified psu , i could use this pc for mid range gaming , but for some time now i've been playing GTA 1 and flash games , and the movies are a disaster to look at .I like to modify my pc ,but all modifications are budget or below that , i've even reconditioned with my own hand my case cause i didn't have money to buy a new one .
you're 7900gt would be so good , i've cant imagine how lucky i've would have to be to win your confidence and you to send it to me , but i'm hopping very much , and did i mention that i'm broke and on 31 may i am celebrating my 18 birthday so it would be a nice birthday present from you !! , pls GOD let i happen

Wow! maybe you should hold off on the overclcoking before you break that CPU and then you will need a GPU and a CPU.

i might as well have a PII , cause with 4mb of video ,you cant watch a movie )) , the CPU is E6 stepping but i managed 2,7ghz from it with 1,62v and at max tep of 54C at full load ! so dont worry about the cpu ,yeah and how much would the transport be from the us to europe ?? so that i can see if i have at least half of the money !!

But i applaud your effort to help those in need.
Now if someone could help some of these people

That fake one with the old card in it looks like there
is ten pounds of dust in the heat sink. And alot of the
others can't have much airflow, with all the cables

If your in colledge,have a decent card already(x800),mommy and daddy taken care of,wine'r,or have to nice of case and mobo...you know you don't deserve it...I built (or have been building)a 939 rig using my old memory,old emachine case,nf-95,and using onboard till I recently picked up a gs7100 jus to get a better frame rate in cs(I wonder what other games even play like,besides what Ive seen my friends play...but I still luv my cs)...Raiseing 2 boys,and my oldest only choice was to go on a football scholership(had good grades too,honor roll),in my veiw people like him deserve to got to school ten time more than your spoiled brat who took 35,000 to learn how to play quarters...And the sad part about it,I don't deserve it,I wouldn't even give you my address if I won it cause there's some poor sap that has it ten times worse off than me,thats the story and pics I want to see.Kudos to you pete,you brought a smile to my face...We live in the United States of America,I feel fortuniate every day,god bless and gl everybody 😀 .

Yes that white crap is dust I've still not cleaned off. I had a fun time scrubbing the CPU and heat sink with 70% isoprophyl alcohol for about an hour.

I don't have a screenshot of it running CPU-Z though I do have it validated.

CPU-Z Validated at 2.2ghz

EDIT: I got it up to 2.5ghz, it crashed badly, I fixed the cooling problem, then dropped to 2.4ghz, instability so 2.3ghz, games freezing so 2.2ghz, where I am at now nice and stable. Still, slow.

wow there are some pretty desperate systems on here, I guess I can't really complain because even though my card isn't the greatest it still beats pretty everyone else's that has posted so far. keep the pics and stories coming, who knows maybe this christmas time if i end up upgrading i'll pass my card on too.
