i was lucky enough to get this from a friend that bought it at a cathlic charity for 5 bucks when he gave it to me and told me how much he bought it for i was like wow that was about 7 months ago. i have 3 boys ages 9,6,4 and all i do is stress about bills and kids and GAS prices, im on housing assistance and got food stamps thats how strapped we are for money so upgrading is next to never, my friend that gave me this computer is upgrading soon and its a older athlon system hes giving me the 939 mobo cpu mem , but no video card , cuz he just bought a card like urs . sorry i dont have pics of what im getting cuz hes still using it at the moment , dont know if u already gave it away but i wanted to hurry and post and try my chances , the kids use the comp to play games aswell , but i love computers its just hard to get ahead these days if i were to get the video card, and once i got the parts from my friend i would donate my mobo mem cpu and video card to someone , im dying to play some newer games im getting tired of the old ones help a gamer dad out . I am a disabled vet, married, have 2 kids, total yearly income is approx 35K. My wife is in school and ALL our money goes to mortgage, bills, daycare, food and insurance. I have a Asus A8n32 SLI Deluxe, AMD 3800, 1 GB old Kinston PC2700 valueram and a GeForce 6600. I do not see me having $ for an upgrade for at least 2-3 years (wife graduates). I can post pictures after I get off work.

I have to make a correction. In my excitement over this I forgot my A8n32 went down a couple of months ago, a friend had a A8N SLI premium he wasn't using and let me have it for $20 to keep me up and running. Did not mean to mislead, just forgot it crashed.

Good luck to whoever win. You all seem to have a better system than mine. I am still running 9600XT AIW on one and 9600SE on another. Although, I don't need this card as I only play RTS games mainly, old ones at that. I prefer the video capture/tuner of the AIW over faster graphic card. I think the OP will have a hard time deciding though.

To show my seriousness for getting a new mobo, I did a little homework and I have found out that to get a Athlon 64 X2 chip I am not going to be able to use my memory I have now, but I did find a cheap enough motherboard that i can afford to buy some memory if I sell one of my 2 512 sticks I have now to get the stuff. But here is what I am ordering:

Yup, somewhere under that jumble of IDE cables lurks a Pentium 166. And the graphics card? 2D only, Diamond Stealth64 with 2 whole MB of video RAM. Plus a Sound Blaster 16. This machine ROX!!! And it still works...sometimes gotta play those old DOS games. Isn't PCI-e the same as PCI? 😳

On second thought, I might not have enough Amps on the 12V rail for that card:

No seriously, this is a great idea PeteVsDRM (as is opposing DRM). It kinda makes me wish I had taken the 7800GS (AGP) I had in in my old P4 system out before giving it to my parents, they would have done fine with the 9800Pro it originally had, and the 7800GS would have been a nice upgrade for some of these people still nursing AGP along. I wish I had thought of this.

And for the record, no I'm not pretending to be in the running for the card.

Hear hear! Well done PetevsDRM (someone atoning for some negative karma? :lol: ).

I won't enter because:

1) There are people here with rigs that far underperform mine (even if their specs are higher; probably different settings).

2) I have AGP, and I'm "lucky" enough to have a Geforce 4 Ti and not an MX.

Even though I'm super pov (I speak nearly 2 languages but apparantly that's not good enough for employers in this city of monocultural reprobates, and I have $7.40 to last me until June 4th...but my bills are paid), there are people worse of than I am.

However, some of that blame has to go to me. I f*cked around in high school and didn't get my certificate (which I'm sincerely regret), which I'm hopefully doing to do by the end of this year. After I hopefully get that, my girlfriend's parents have offered to pay for me to go to Uni or College (and language school so I can get hopefully get my JLPT2 by 2010) in Japan as a recompense for looking after her while she's studying in Australia. This is one opportunity I'm definitely not going to miss.

Anyone here who is thinking of leaving school, DON'T! Yeah it's hard, but leaving before graduation just makes it harder. Just finish it, ignore all the bullshit from the retarded princess chicks and jocks and concentrate your energy into some more productive.

They remind me of bogans and ricecars; loud, but slow and completely obnoxious. Everytime it spins up I want kick it's little beige ass back to hell. DVD's are unwatchable because it's so loud.

Im kinda pissed that I just bought a GF7600Gt off of my friend this past week to replace my X800GT. I wouldnt have been able to power the GF7900GT anyways, my PSU is too crappy.

Even though I don't have a insane hard luck story but I figured since there's no reason not to I'll try for the 7900GT because I do feel I'm deserving. First off I do meet the basics (in US, PCI-e, power requirements). Second, I won't bother posting a picture because my rig really isn't beat down and dusty since I take good care of what I have. My rig just isn't state of the art. I have a Sempron 3100 I got about two years ago, overclocked to 2.5ish, 1GB Ram, 160GB HD, DVD-RW, with a 7600GT for the videocard. The answer is yes, I am "poor" when it comes to the money I have for a PC. My setup does alright for most games but with a 7900GT I could definitely take it up a notch. I'm not 16 anymore and I can't spend a working summer's money on a kick ass game setup. Rent and car payments take care of that. That's basically why I hope you'll consider me for the 7900GT. I'm just a plain old working guy who loves games. I'll even donate my 7600GT (I know, not as big a deal) if I receive your card. Thanks.
