Who wants a free 7900gt?

And just so you don't think you're the only humanitarian out there... I'm giving away (to a friend) my water-cooled X2-4400+ w/ 2GB RAM, 7800 GTX and X-Fi sound either this week or the next. His current P4 1.5 is a hand-me-down from me and I got it as a hand-me-down from someone considerably more affluent than myself. No, I'm normally not the generous type... BUT I've had some incredible luck come my way. I've signed a 5-year rent-free lease on a small cabin on a local lake thanks to a very generous family member and I'm honestly not going to have the space for my desktop any more. I'll be living directly on the water and will have a 40 miles shorter commute every day...

And I'm still voting for the first guy. He sounded sincere and his story didn't seem crazy or unbelievable.

well, I am poor, and I work in the computer service/sales industry.

I am so oooooo poor, even with the perks of discounts and stuff, ALL the parts in my computer are used.

My specs are:

P4 2.8 northwood, dfi lanparty 875 (1st rev, no prescott for me), 2 gig of various types/speeds of ddr, 1 80 gig ide, 1 120 gig sata, audigy, and the best part of the system:

X800XL.. yup, in agp form!

I have about 1/2 the parts needed to build me a new one gathered around (many, many, many will be recycled from current), just need a mobo and pci-e video card.

you see, I have not ever purchased a new part for this pc, its a frankenstien monster from hell from the past 5 yrs or more.

I live in romania ... this is the first shity thing
I have a very old and cheap and lazy computer with an fx5200 , i know this is agp , this is the second shit
I have large debts and i have to pay taxes .... the third
I cant afford another computer for the video board , but i will sell it to someone in order to pay some taxes , this is the fourth shity thing
I say again that i live in fu==in romania , that after the EU integration , we live much worse than before , this is the fifth shity thing
I can say only that you must help someone in real need , not someone that already has a computer and money...
The second thing that i cant keep the video board is that i dont have the money to buy games ... , they are too expensive for me , i can only take pirated copies of them and play them on my fx5200 , the sixth shity thing

I appreciate your support. Especially as you are the only one here who isn't also gunning for that card.

I hope I sound sincere because I am. I don't believe in playing the game where I say, "give it to someone else" in hopes that I will get the card. The reality is that I would like the card, but it's up to PETEvsDRM to decide who gets it.

Right after my last post I saw what ComputerCustomizer wrote and I just wanted to say that I wasn't responding to his post in particular, just that type of thinking in general. I didn't see his post before I submitted mine, but it's funny how we used the exact same wording.
 
Hey dude with the x850, how much do you want for it? The x850xtpe I had was one of my favorite cards. Let me know, PM or something. It is PCI-E right? I want it!!!!
 
Well I would love to be in the running. Here is my sob story.

I am 16 years old and live in the UK (I would pay the shipping). I currently work on Saturdays refereeing at my local basketball centre, I get paid £4 for a game. I have tried saving up for a new PC because mine doesn't play the most recent games, even games like rfactor play slowly in 800x600 resolution. But due to many other things i have to buy i have only saved up £44.

I do feel kinda bad asking because im sure others need it more than me but here are my specs (ill note which are second hand SH):

Athlon 64 3000 754 SH
Foxconn NF4 8EKERS mobo
512mb DDR400 Ram SH
Nvidia 6600 GFX
60gb IDE HDD SH

Thanks for the generous offer anyway even if i don't get it.

Your post has restored my faith in human nature. It reminds me of my giving away my rig to some teenagers here in Israel last year. Their parents were killed in a terror attack and hezbollah missiles destroyed their house and rig. I gave them my P4 with a GeForce6600. Now I'm stuck with an outdated rig and could really use a 7900gt card. I'll be a real bozo and ask if maybe someone could arrange a FEDEX to Israel??? I know it's asking a lot but I'm in the hot zone and under fire. Please help. Thanks so much (no matter how it turns out..you're a good man).

Well quite a few people trying for an upgrade card. I really do wish a few years back (when I bought the FX5200 from BestBuy (which was the Worst Buy)) and tried on NewEgg. Anyways... I'm hoping to get some sort of budget for a computer upgrade sometime in the future--its all a matter of time and the courts (my mom will probably supply me with 80% of the budget).

EDIT: I'll upload pictures in ~2 hours or so.
 
Okay so i know i probably wont win this but its worth a try right? i dont have too many posts but ive been reading these forums for over a year now also =D.

So I have an okay computer that i have built from parts handed down to me from friends in the recent upgrading to core 2. I have a pentium d 820 and i HAD 1gb of ddr2 5400 but lastnight one of the sticks like...blew up and now theres a crater in the memory slot lol. anyways my video card is a 256mb 6600, it does okay, i had a really nice 6800gt but it was agp and my brothers card blew so i said he could borrow it until he upgraded and i guess he changed his mind about it lol. Anyways as to the reason i cant upgrade myself i have an okay job but my wife is due to have our first girl in september and we are just trying to find a good place to live and moneys been tight for awhile now. so theres my sob story ill post pictures when i get home tonight.

*note* i know i said the 6800 was agp, i have an asrock 775 dualvsta that has pcie and agp on it. =D. the 6600 is pcie.
 
Just like to say that is good to see that we still have some good people out there, I've done that kinda stuff before myself, but not online, I like to upgrade as much as I can and dont like to waste good hardware, so I'll to those that need, it is a awesome feeling. Hope more people start doing the same!!! :lol:

Personally, I'm still stuck on AGP with my Radeon 9800 Pro, from about 4 years ago. Parts are actually starting to fall off of my motherboard, nothing vital yet, most just little plastic fasteners here and there or pins that I don't need. My case on the other hand is a masterpiece, an old first generation Cooler master Cavalier with some actual mods I made to cut down on the heat generated by the 9800 and the Barton 2800+ running at obscene temps in the summer time. Mind you, this computer was the first computer I ever built, back when I was 15 or 16.. it made my life worth living back then LoL, but now it's just limping along, past it's good health and over it's youthful spunk that it once had. I was hoping there might be a memorial day special at Fry's or somewhere so I could use my gift card to finally jump off of the Socket A boat. But being a college student and all, I don't really have all the money to just throw down for a completely new setup as I would have to with the AGP card and DDR I have now, unless I could get my hands on a hybrid board like an Asrock.. but ya... I've been telling my friends for the past 8 months, 'I'm waiting for the price to drop... I'm waiting for the price to drop..' :cry:

I wonder how big the mouse would have been (if it too had been invented at the same time...even though it wasnt required)

I don't think it'd be called a mouse though. They'd have to name it after something a bit bigger to match the size of that thing, like a "nutria rat".

I have a bad feeling about this guy. That mobo is too nice to be running that junkie card. I am guessing he already has a 7900GT and he wants this free one to run SLI. Just a guess.
