Question Why is my cpu temperature so high?

Hey guys. I got my dell 15 7577 i5 7300hq a year ago and the first 2-3 months were great. The cpu temps were at most 65c. I use an external fan to help cool the laptop. Now my temps are reaching 85c. I recently cleaned my fans but the temps haven't changed. What should I do?

Laptop: what exactly did you do with respect to specifically "cleaning the fans"?

I opened it up and with a moist cloth cleaned off the fan. Then with a weak vacuum i sucked out any dust that was in my vents.
