To preface, I am beginning to gradually replace parts of system and was looking into getting a new monitor as well. The problem is, I am not sure if my Ryzen 5 1600 can handle gaming at 144hz. In the event that it cannot handle a 144hz refresh rate, what would be the next logical upgrade be for my CPU? Keep in mind that I plan to stay with Ryzen, as I am not interested in swapping my motherboard.

Build Summary (If it becomes relevant).

Motherboard: Gigabyte AB350N Gaming-WIFI (Mini ITX)

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

RAM: 16gb of Corsair Vengeance LPX clocked in at 2400MHz

GPU: Zotac Mini-GTX 1070TI 8gb of vRAM

Storage: WD blue 250gb M.2 SATA SSD (Boot and Game drive) and a 3.5' WD Blue 1tb Hard Drive

PSU: Cooler Master 500w 80+ Bronze Power Supply

Cooler: Noctua L9i (I do plan on replacing this with a liquid cooler in the near future)

Monitor: ACER 24' 60HZ 1080p (I forgot the model)

it depends what game you are playing, but for the most part you should be fine. if you wanted to upgrade your cpu if you aren't happy with the performance, i would wait for the 3000 series to release. it uses AM4 as well so you don't have to upgrade your motherboard.

You really need to specify some game titles. As previously stated, it really depends on the game and settings you're aiming for.
At 1080p you may get most games at high-ultra 144 fps.

Since you won't upgrade your CPU I'll state for the record, at 1080p and 1440p you do lose a few fps with Ryzen over any Intel, even older models.

Use this video as a guide. If you want more fps or quality, you have to consider a better GPU.
